As a dealer, we were getting a price increase about every 4 months... usually $50 per cap increase. BUT... ready for it?!

Yesterday our fiberglass cap manufacturer passed on a cost of materials/production increase of just over $200/per cap!

And of course, we have no choice but to pass it on... sometimes if it's just a small increase, we would absorb it... but no longer possible.

My company just handed out a 10% raise to the "boots on the ground guys" due to the inability to find/keep decent employees.

I'm guessing that most of those production cost increases are labor related.

wonder why people dont steal caps.
We've been in business 50 years and over the years, I don't think we've had more than 4 stock caps stolen from our lot. Maybe it's the area we're in, I don't know. It's really impossible anymore to stock many caps though... too many different makes of trucks and bed sizes, too many style choices and options. Not like it was back in the 70's & 80's. It would be a guessing came what to put out there. We make our own line of aluminum caps and we're running 4 - 8 weeks on orders (the utility/contractor style caps seem the most popular), used to be 2 - 3 weeks. Fiberglass caps are running about 2 - 4 weeks for us to get in after ordered.

Great insight Val - thanks for sharing. Things sure have changed over the years, huh?
