Ok. I started on page one and read everything in the first two and then skimmed. So I’m not sure if this has been tried. I had the exact same issue on my 2020. Fords carplay programming is a joke. When I am plugged into usb I get every feature except the mic will not work on the vehicle (although their voice comes thru speakers). When I go Bluetooth only the mic works great, but of course you loose maps. Now I plug into usb and connect with Bluetooth at the same time. Mic works great and I see normal CarPlay screen with maps available. I always turn my phone volume all the way up before connecting also since you can’t change it on the phone after connection in the truck. Not that it has ever helped the mic issue…it’s just something I do.

Try this and see if it helps.

Perform a master reset on Sync and delete the Ranger from Car Play on the phone and go through the setup process again. Also make sure the USB cable is a good quality one. When I used cheap USB cables I had issues on my 13 PM and Car play connection/activation as well as mic volume. Once I switched to a high quality cable and reset everything it has worked perfectly with no mic issues on iOS 14.

Performed a Master reset on Sync.
Deleted my Ranger from CarPlay.
Went through the setup.
Using cable from my iPhone 11 box (never used before).

Mic audio is fine using Bluetooth only.
Mic audio is very low with iPhone connected via USB to Ranger.

Update; Tossed my BT earpiece in my pocket. I answer my calls via the vehicle speaker/mic. Then turn on my earpiece. Mic audio from it is perfect.

So, I can talk or have a NAV screen. But, not both. :(

Not sure yet
this has been an ongoing issue between Waze and CarPlay. Both accuse each other and it never gets fixed. Try it, at least, to know for sure. I gave up Waze and haven’t had issues since.
Don't have my Ranger yet... but THIS is great :like: Gotta love technology, when it works, Its great, when it doesn't, Thanks for the info

SO how many people are still having issues. I just updated to the newest version of Sync which just came out a few weeks ago. I have not had waze on my phone in at least two years. People can still not hear me using carplay. This is so frustrating. It works in my old focus and every rental I get for work. Come on @FORD.

During a call check your phone to see what output it is using; speaker, Apple Car Play, headphones etc.

I have the latest Sync3 update installed overnite last night and today my iPhone still works normally through Apple CarPlay: ringer volume, listening volume and mic level all are fine. Try "forgetting " (deleting) your phone from the devices menu and re-pairing it. My previous Escape (st)...arted ...skippi..(ng) random... (ly), until I forgot it from Sync 3 and Sync 3 from my iPhone and started over. Worked fine ever since,

I did all of this today and no change. Bluetooth works great. With CarPlay people still have a hard time hearing no matter the volume settings on phone or car.
