I looked at the last version of this and it seemed to be different compared to what people actually got. Maybe they updated it or the truck? I thought a bunch of folks said their XLT was listed as having heated mirrors but did not...

My Lariat is 2019, so I cannot speak to the many of the differences in the newer models. But I will say that the B&O rocks. It is the first OEM music system that I have not felt the need to replace with an aftermarket system, which means, if you are a music fan, saving a pile of money--maybe enough to get the Lariat and break even?
Well It's really just the sub that I would add. I only have one functioning ear thanks to a brain tumor... So high pitched things and lyrics are difficult to make out... But I can still feel the bass. :)

Get more options than you think you need because all too often there are owners on here wanting to add options they thought they didn’t need at the time of purchase.
Exactly. I bought a ‘20 F150 SCREW XLT FX4 and I really regretted not having power folding mirrors (had to fold them in every time I pulled into the garage) and push button start (super handy, put the fob in your pocket and forget about it!)

Hey all. So I've been busy with some hours projects (new roof, electrical, water, etc...) but started comparing in more detail the XLT and Lariat again a few days ago. It looks like there's actually very few differences between the XLT and Lariat. Maybe the 2022 year induced some changes? For example, you can get heated mirrors on the XLT - which I don't remember being an option on the 2021 year....

I am currently considering a optioned out XLT instead of a Lariat - it has more cost and options than I 'need'.

I haven't been able to get good info from Ford - so is anyone able to assist in the following questions please (for MY 2022):
  • Does the XLT offer heated seats? (pics on Ford site show the heat button, but description does not say)
  • Does the XLT offer headed glass like the web portal says?
  • Anyone experience aftermarket sound system since BO is not offered in the XLT?

Thanks in advance :). Planning to place an order next weekend so gotta narrow it down ha.
So far everyone on the forum that has taken delivery on a 2022 XLT 302a is reporting heated seats and heated mirrors. Manual folding.

The Lariat has a different instrument cluster than the other trim levels.

Different likes for different folks, but the instrument cluster in the Lariat is why I bought an XLT instead. I REALLY disliked it and didn't want to look at it for years. A few on here have swapped their Lariat cluster for an XLT cluster.

Anyone with a crew cab wish they went with a super? Or vic versa? I am leaning to a super for more bed space. Single dude here with no kids. Maybe a dog in the near future.
Depends on what you're going to do with that extra foot. For hauling, it really doesn't impact much. If you're going to want to sleep in the back, you'll need it.

But if you can safely say you're not going to haul passengers in the back, there's very little reason not to get the scab.

May have been mentioned but not all Lariat’s have the remote start option, at least on 2019 models. One thing that mine doesn’t along with heated mirrors.
I did add the StartX aftermarket remote start.
Correct; 500A doesn't have the remote start.

The XLT cluster looks so much better than the Lariat. I wanted all the other bels and whistles that came along with the Lariat so I had to pick my poison when getting mine. Now that I've had to for almost 3 years it's ok but I'd much rather the XLT cluster.

At least now you can swap it with the magic of FORScan!

The only thing I wish I had from the Lariat is heated mirrors, and when I bought mine the salesperson and the documentation said mine had them.

Alas, only the rear window is heated

I suspect Ford was planning on including them in the 302A package but the heated mirrors became the first of several "cost down" initiatives that were coming down the line.

I'm looking at you missing tie downs, missing shifter illumination, missing rear seat folding headrests...

What year truck do you have? From what I read and others have confirmed the 2022 XLT 302A does have heated mirrors...

Now shifter illumination - that's something I haven't thought of.

Mine's a 2019.

The media flyer said it had heated mirrors, but it doesn't.

It DOES have, drumroll please...

6, count them, 6 bed tie downs ?

Illuminated shifter

Folding rear seat headrests

Plugs in the holes along the rocker panels

All those items are things that Ford either reduced the numbers (tie downs) or completely removed from later builds, apparently in an effort to cut costs.

So the XLT does NOT have a key fob that opens doors and starts the truck even if it has remote start?? That seems awful odd....
That is not correct the xlt fob works like any others just has the switchblade style flip out key to start it vs just a button. As far as the tailgate power locking (something not mentioned as far as I see) I think that is a lariat thing that is incredibly nice to have.
It sounds like I wouldn't get the BO sound system anyway since I'm really not needing a crew cab and would prefer more bed space. So thats kinda a bummer. I wonder if a Lariat key fob with the remote start button can be programed to be used with a XLT.
The XLT starts with a physical key blade so that is a no go.

Yes I totally agree... I guess I will have to call someone at Ford to clarify things because it seems the build guide and the online build doesn't match. That ix expanded on by sales people at 2 different dealerships not knowing at all what is what and referred to the online build for what options are available.

I do agree. The number one thing that I do not like with the Lariat is the leather seats. I wonder what it would cost to swap out the fabric.....
I love my lariat adaptive cruise the b &o just the overall polish and features are really great, I personally couldn't justify doing an xlt for myself but to each their own. Also to get rid of that gaudy chrome just get a tremor, sport appearance or the very nice black appearance pack.
