Any feedback on the quality of Rough Country 6” suspension lift? Also, mechanic recommended possibly replacing struts and shocks at 45k miles (just doing it now).

I've only seen a couple 6" lifts (bds and rough country) and they all seem cheap and overly expensive. Many seem like a glorified spacer lift with extra brackets. Personally, I don't see the point of a lift that size. You can get a better ride and better quality without going that size

What would you recommend? Anything close to 6”?

I guess the question is why 6"? What are your goals for your truck? Personally I wouldn't go more than 3"-4" tops. Bigger lift doesn't mean more capable. It does mean more of a hassle to use the bed though!

I agree with @daniel3507 . why go that big of a lift? I understand doing a lift over leveling kit for OffRoad but you can only get so much when it comes to an independent typs suspension anyway.

If you ask me the most practical and cost affective kit available at this time is the Old Man EMU lift by ARB. Front goes up 2.4 and the rear 1.6. Add 33 inch tires and you have an effective lift of 4 inches front and 3 inches rear.

I always get a kick out of the trucks with big huge lifts. When you look at the lift and it's nothing but giant lift blocks in the back and a massive spacer in the front. 6" lift with stock suspension components and 2" travel. I always wonder how they get things in and out of the bed before realizing they probably don't ever use the bed.

cuz all his bro-truck buddies have big lifts so needs one too.

I think all of the 6" lifts on market come with complimentary flat billed hats and monster drink decals. So thats a plus.
Thanks!

I want to be able to turn my wheel completely. I also don’t like the rake of my leveling kit. I want the truck even all around. Also looking for a softer ride.

I have 285’s and a 3” leveling kit already. I don’t off-road either if that helps

If you have a 3 inch leveling kit then chances are you dont have any rake. Also if you are not going Offroad and dont plan to use it as a truck then do yourself a favor and sell the truck.amd get either a SUV or a car. No sense of having a truck if you dont use it like a truck.

No idea, got it 3 years ago. It’s just a spacer
You may look at just replacing the spacers with coilovers or leveling struts. Fox, Old Man Emu, Bilstein 5100, etc. They would improve ride quality. I'm surprised you have rake with a 3" spacer. Usually 2-2.5" gets it pretty level. It may never be 100% dead level, but it should be pretty damn close and look level to the eye.

We have done tons of leveling kits and the 3.5” Rough Country lifts at work (doing another Wednesday actually) most run 33-34’s but a few guys have trimmed/removed crash bars and run 35’s. After driving a few, I’ll be doing the Rough Country 3.5 on mine. They drive better than stock, align out properly and hold more tire size than just a level. If you are doing struts anyway, I can’t recommend the Rough country 2.5” enough. They ride excellent and so far quality/reliability has been flawless on all the trucks we have done. As far as other companies we have used (Fox, BDS, OME, Racho, Readylift) they just don’t offer enough upside to justify the price increase over Rough Country. Just my 2 cents.
