I should have googled that. Here is the answer to my own question:

"At this time, FordPass Rewards point balances will not expire prior to December 31, 2021.

FordPass Rewards Point balances expire when you have not earned Points, redeemed Points, or fulfilled a reward earned through FordPass Rewards for 365 consecutive calendar days. The expiration clock resets every time you participate in FordPass Rewards. FordPass™ App usage does not qualify as activity needed to keep Points from expiring."

Seems like a gimmick. Give you points that are nearly impossible to redeem.

I've never had any problems using mine at the dealer. It seems like those who do it's the dealer who doesn't know how to apply the points. The FPP have been out for a long time now so I don't know why some dealers still can't do this? Try using a different dealer or the online one posted on the previous page. I got my battery maintainer using them, it's free money so don't let it go to waste. :)

You cant use your FPP for online purchase. They can only be used at the dealer through the parts counter. Even then a lot of dealers still don't know how to do this so make sure you check first that yours knows how to apply the points.
My closest Dealer for a long time did not know how. My "new" Dealer who I am buying vehicles through.....when I went to order accessories....their discount prices were better than using the points. They said to use the points when ordering parts or accessories....they have to charge Ford's suggested retail catalog pricing. They suggested I use the points for service related items. That will be my intention but soon I will have 200,000 points. Does that go along with what others have discovered???????

My local dealer's Parts Department would not accept the points to allow me to obtain the Ford Performance 5.0 Charger/Maintainer as they said the points were only good for parts but not accessories. I ended up getting the missing mid-bed hooks and several oil, air and cabin filters.

It's crap. I bought a swing tool box with points at the parts counter, no questions or issues at all. The only thing was they wanted to charge me more than the on-line price, but split the difference and I paid a few bucks out of pocket but I didn't really care (though it's BS).

I knew that others had been able to obtain accessories though their dealer and I briefly thought about arguing with them or going to a different dealer but as I already have a Battery Tender Plus that I use sometimes on my Jeep, but I just figured it wasn't worth the hassle.

I used some points to order some mudguards. A service advisor was the one who handled it and he didn't give me any issue at all.

After I had been notified that the items were in, but before I had a chance to drop by to pick them up, the service advisor sent me an e-mail with this note:

"There was a little hiccup with the paperwork. Nothing for you to worry about. Just wanted to let you know in case you came to pick them up and they gave you a hard time! I'm on it!"

When I stopped by to get them, they were waiting for me at the parts counter with a "Paid" notice on them. I did notice on my Fordpass balance that the points for the mudguards were deducted, but then I also got a few points back as though I had paid cash for the mudguards, which seemed a little odd but wasn't something I was going to complain about. I never did hear what the "hiccup" was, but it does make me think the points might be more trouble than they're worth for many of the dealerships.

I just think many dealers don't know WTF they are doing.

Side story. When I was looking to buy, my local dealer got me a sticker of a truck that was 'on the storage lot'. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I agreed to buy it if they they got it on site. They said they got the truck and I collected all my paper work and went to buy it. Turns out they had gotten a truck from another dealer that I had ALREADY driven, and it wasn't close to the truck they told me about.

When I showed up I looked at it and said that's not the truck you told me about.... the sales person said 'that's the truck I showed you'... I said, nope, it's not. Here's the email you sent me (showing it to her on my phone) and this truck you got is from another dealer because I've already driven it. Dust it for prints if you don't believe me.

Reminds me of the time my dad was buying a Nissan Sentra, and the dealership had to get one from another dealer in order to get the build he wanted. I went with my dad to pick it up when it arrived...except as soon as he sat in it he said, "This isn't my car." They tried to tell him it was the exact one they promised him, but had to eat their words when he reminded them that the whole reason for getting one from a another dealer was that he wanted a manual transmission. They ultimately got the right car for him.

A few years later I was buying my first vehicle (a 2003 Ford Ranger). The sales price included $4k in factory rebates, which of course the dealership said I still had to pay sales tax on. My dad was with me, and tried to argue that point with them. They continued to insist that their hands were tied because it wasn't legal for them to not collect sales tax on the rebate amount. My dad then pointed out that couldn't be true because when he bought his Nissan he didn't have to pay sales tax on the rebates...and then he went silent for a moment, got a sheepish look on his face, and then said something along the lines of, "But come think of it, that dealership went out of business...some sort of issue with tax evasion..."

Dealer where I bought the Ranger, parts guy, not only ordered accessories using points, he matched the lowest price I found online from any other dealer. Bought the swing box and used left over toward rear seat delete parts. :like:

FYI, Fairway Ford in Ohio let me purchase ford accessories over the phone with my FordPass points. They are not a ford performance dealer though so some things are limited.
