NW Florida/Georgia (Columbus area) camping is always done best in the dead of winter, the colder the better (no bugs or snakes ever). The coldest it once got was 19deg F. Not tents at all (totally agree w/Mark), just a good sleeping bag that can handle below freezing temps. We always check the weather carefully, never been rained on, been doing it for years. It does help that we are all pyromaniacs...big big hardwood fires are a must. The only problem with that is a steadfast rule that the first person who wakes up to process water has to restart the fire, so everyone waits to see who hold outs the longest LOL. I lost once...im on board with it. just need the american history flash cards to by a lil trailer. i despise tents and hate screwing with them roof top or other wise me and tents are not friends lol.
