Have a 20’ supercab and I’m making an effort to make it a true overlander. Can’t seem to find any supercabs that are built out for overlanding only supercrews as I’m wanting ideas for my build. Hoping for you guys to share your builds!

You might not see much on the ranger side but you can always get ideas from other extended cab trucks. Many ideas out there, just a question of what will work best for you

All you need is a cab height bed rack a lot of which are universal so your truck bed length is irrelevant.

From there you basically need to look to yourself for some imagination and some basic skills and basic tools. We are talking what a lot of people already have in their possession when speaking of tools. When I was mulling out the plans for my truck I decided I was not going to pay the prices companies demanded for what I was looking at.

I came up with a no-weld design that anybody could easily do with minimal parts involved. Also it requires no modification or attachments to your roof. I have no engineering or metal working background prior to taking up this project.

I've been planning to put a d i y guide to how I built my rack and more or less a step-by-step setup for free for anyone to use or modify to their own desire.

To the original poster your thread kind of motivated me to hop on that do-it-yourself instruction on building and overland set up give me 24 to 48 hours and it should be finished and you can look at that as one potential path.

You can get a ton of inspiration from the many SuperCrews on here but be aware your choices might be limited when it comes to sliders or running boards, cab-mounted roof racks, certain bed racks, canopies, and some other items. It doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Here are a few SuperCabs to inspire you…

look into the toyota side people love having the long bed for more room in the bed most will get a gfc camper or something similar because they have the room and its great! but very pricey! you can also get a larger rtt setup that fits the length of your bed better then the smaller beds unless you do a cab height bed rack and tbh been there done that never again! its way to damn tippy on trails offroad with steep camber so not again for me! you can also do what another member already showed which is a soft topper or camper shell setup and make a full on sleeping system for your bed since you have more room! there is loads of options to do for a longer bed! if none of these options sound good to you then go with a tear drop or a old military trailer to have your camp setup on and keep your bed empty for toys like a dirt bike or mountain bikes or what ever you want to take with you! the possibilities are endless!

the big thing with overlanding is just getting out there and exploring! get a set of 265/70/17s and some sliders and a ground tent and go if you need! you can go from the biggest and most badass setup where you spend thousands! or you can be simple and basic but it fits your needs there is no true list of everything you need to be an overlander its literally just a fancy word for car camping! so basically just get out there!

You have an option we Supercrew don't have...throw a cap on it and you can sleep in the bed...sometimes, I wonder if I should've gone that route...

But if you hit the 1,90m it is getting tight…
but by the way. Does anyone has experience with Redtail overland. They are sold till 2024 but they materialised some very good ideas in that thing. And how would it look on a Ranger?

I meant you have a 6' bed that you can sleep in...no need for another RTT on top...
