Hi folks I would appreciate a little help and feedback on an issue I had yesterday on a 200 mile round trip.

I had driven about 50 miles using 4x4 most of the way through a snowstorm. stopped to fuel up at a Mobil station, the first time I have used that brand of fuel.

When I started the truck it said No Pre Collision available, then the wrench lit up and said to service 4X4. No codes at this point. I thought it might be snow build up on the front parking sensors. I left it in 2WD to deal with it later. A mile or 2 up the road and the truck starts shuddering, jerking and not shifting properly but would idle and rev up in park okay. Drove a little farther and then pulled over to connect my BDX to log some data for Torrie. After a couple false starts on using the datalogger, cycling the power on and off the above codes were thrown. Cycled the power off to remove the tuner from the OBD port and the wrench was gone when I started it up again. Truck ran great in 4X4 or 2WD the rest of the way, and the wrench remained off. CEL was still on.

Mods in sig.

Thoughts?

I would try returning the truck back to stock and then reload a fresh unleashed tune. Never had this happen in my Ranger but my 2016 4x4 EB F-150 had almost the same exact issue you described and was fixed by starting over fresh with the tune.

Checked ice on the parking sensors, but did you wipe the ice off the ACC rectangle? Doesnt explain the jerking/bucking though...

Thanks, that is what I will plan to to do. The codes all point to PCM issues: faulty, low voltage, or damaged. Suggests to recalibrate, I sent an email to Torrie at Unleashed and will see what he says.

No ice on the ACC unit.

Sent Torrie an email and got a quick response, on a Sunday no less which is all the more reason to like Unleashed tuning, and he says to return to stock and reinstall. I'll update with results.

Went to return to stock and no check engine light when I started it, maybe it was just an oddball gremlin?

Anyway, since these things are basically computers on wheels it doesn't hurt to turn it off and on a few times to see if things resolve on their own

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Yep, just a computer. Sometimes I miss the days where you gaped the points with a matchbook, adjusted the timing with a light, and set your mixture with a screwdriver, things were so much simpler.

The same thing happened again yesterday morning heading to work. I had to limp the last mile, then shut it off for a few minutes and it worked again. Last time it logged everything in FordPass and this time it didn't. I am guessing it gets too much snow and ice buildup on the front sensors and gets all confused.

has anyone else seen a similar issue?

Hey man, so... I do, even though it's an entirely different vehicle with no tuning, ice, nor 4x4. But all the symptoms are the same, except for the 4x4 obviously haha. Would you be so kind and let me know whether you have gotten a solution for this by now? Or did you just get rid of your Ford? ??
I'm happy to provide more details if you'd like.
Cheers J

Yes sir. It happened to me twice, basically rebooted the computer on wheels that passes for a truck, everything came back like it should be, and now I've sold it. Sorry I can't be more help.
