After a quick thread cleanout with an 8MM tap I put 4 eye bolts in the missing tiedown holes to complement the ones in my redneck stopslider thingy. Then I swept out the box, tossed a set of bungee cords in there, and called it a day.

I have 2 of the eye bolts leftover, had to order 6 from Amazon. If anyone wants them they are free if you cover shipping. PM me.

Alright boys (and girls). I'm about to load up coffee and to the garage with my four rolls of matte black vinyl. Let us see where this takes us.

How I imagine I look doing vinyl work:

How I really look doing vinyl work:

Back by itself was fine. Front is over done....looks too "busy".
For the front, maybe 2 "hash marks" to mimic the 2 at the rear.., maybe right under the driving light where you left the break in the vinyl. Same width as the hash marks on the rear.

That IS an awful lot of black. Not poorly done, mind you, but seems a bit much for my taste.

I like the back, doors(in the making) and the side badge going down to the front wheel. I am not a fan of the front fender. Bonnet stripe(s) all the way down to the bumper would be nice!

Changed the Battery! Put in a Duralast Platinum 850CCA AGM battery ! Auto Stop/Start and Door handle Lock/unlock functions had stopped working. Now with a nice new battery they're working again! Nearly 3 years and 23,500 miles on the Odometer!

This is a quick mock up of the general idea. I'm not so sure its working out how I envisioned in my head.

Way too much, way too "busy". Too many angles, breaks, gaps. Looked much better with just the rear application.
Starting to remind me of WW l Dazzle paint......
Just my opinion...

Yea I think I am just going to stick to the rear graphics.
Well, don’t let yourself down. Creativity is not always leading to wins :(. I really like the ending motive of the back panels in those narrow lines after the continuous one.

I would try to simulate that on a bonnet stripe, not necessarily in the middle, with the continuous stripe starting at the windshield and having those stripes either closer to the grill or interrupting the stripe somewhere at 1/3 or 2/3 … you know, the magic of the object placement in photography.

Or, before you peel it off completely, how about this, maintaining the idea on the front door? I did this on my phone …

Most important is if you like it! Nevermind us, opinions are like asses, everybody has one!

Rangers start shutting down non critical things when battery starts to get low. ( As you know).

Some times I don't drive mine for a few days and it gets low. It has as a few vampires, OBDII Bluetooth adapter and usually I forget to unplug my phone charger. So an overnight charge fixes it.

I did a couple things to my Ranger today to improve its look and function. Thought I would share

This morning I had all the windows tinted. I had them add 5% tint to all the back windows to black it out and put 75% tint (ceramic to block UV) in the two front windows. I think it looks perfect. Oh, I also de badged the vinyl 4x4 sticker from the bed. Those things look so cheep to me.

Then after I got my truck back home, I installed my Bakflip MK4 bed cover.

A good day for me and my Ranger. What did you guys do to your Ranger today?
Was installing the clamps for the Bakflip a huge pain? I had to use a bunch of shim/spacers to get it to clamp properly.

Hi Guys, I realise I'm quoting a year old post here, but I want this exact grill, in this colour, only problem is, I'm in Australia and I don't even know if it would fit our spec Rangers (non-Raptor). But, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with a couple of questions and in return, I'll answer any questions anyone has about Aussie spec Rangers, well, any that I can anyway.

Here goes:

- Is this an OEM grill? I assume it is.
- Does it come painted on this model, or was this custom painted? I.e. can I buy one the same, in the same colour?
- Would anyone with this grill, in any colour, mind supplying some dimensions so I can see if it might fit mine?
- Lastly, would anyone who has replaced this grill with another model, entertain the thought of selling, including postage to Aus? (Assuming it fits). Big ask I know, but you never know, with how much you guys in the States seem to love your FORD (Raptor) grills, someone might have one sitting around, surplus to requirements, and have a sense of humour.

My grill looks about the same, but chrome and this colour would match my wheels (I hope). Not my car, but same grill.

Would also help me work out if my RANGER lettering on the grill is the same size, so I can order those inserts you guys love so much.

Any help, much appreciated and sorry for the thread hijack, thanks.

And if you're wondering "WTF, why doesn't he just paint his grill grey, stupid Aussie?!", Well, it's a company car, so I have to be able to return to stock at some point, so I need to keep my grill. Also, I'm also not sure how paint would stick to the chrome and/or matt black plastic. Thanks again.

Woah, doesn't time fly. This stupid truck has gone from "Maybe I should just stick some rims on it, to a little out of control. For a work truck.

Anyway, figuring that I couldn't paint the chrome grill, I decided to look for one painted black, and low and behold...

A factory FX4 grill pops up for the measly sum of $100. Picking it up after work. Looking at this, it looks the same as the original grey one I found in the post up there ^, just, well, black. I'd bet you can paint a black one but!

thumbnail_IMG_8138.jpg

So I have some fender vents and door handle covers, painted in Boulder (WIldtrak) Grey, on the way here.

I have some brand new mirrors off a '21 Wildtrak (dealer fitted towing mirrors from new) I bought last weekend in the same colour for $70 (with puddle lights!).

And I have some replacement fog light surrounds on their way that were cheap as chips too. So now, just get the fog light surrounds and grill painted the same colour and the chrome will be almost gone on the truck. Just have that pesky tailgate handle, but I have an idea there too.

Couple all that grey with the de-badging, sticker removal, black Ford badges, Wildtrak tailights, the wheels, etc, and this thing may end up looking alright in the end after all. Just need to slow down, not a lot else I can do and my son and I are enjoying this.

Updated pics coming soon.
