Drove to a swimming hall in next town and took a sauna & swim. It's more modern than the local one which was built when I was a kid. Tried to cheap out by showing vet card but they said that they only give discount for the WW2 vets. Ain't that old..

Anyway.. the thing is that today marks the first snow in here. Just flakes raining and melting on the ground and nothing the General Grabbers could handle. But mark my words the white hell is coming again and it's time to start looking at the weather report and tire change schedule...

Giving a discount to WWII vets is not gong to be too costly, if they were 18 in 1945 that would make them 94 now, not a lot of our heroes left from that conflict. If a WWII vet comes , they should let him or her in for free.

There were still 5886 WW2 veterans in Finland at the end of 2020. The age range is from 86 to 108 or 10 to 27 at the end of hostilities. As you can note times were desperate when 10 years old were allowed to service, although few in numbers and in support roles.

Truth is that the lines were in brink of collapse and when the hostilities ended. There is an account that when the hostilities ceased and Finnish defenders met the ~500 men attacking them earlier, there were only 5 left to greet them. But the line held..

So yeah, I'd not charge a dime from them either, nor public services or many other businesses.

However, some counties & businesses (like our towns swimming hall) do offer discount for the peace keeping vets so no point in me not asking.

Are you kidding? I had the damper ordered before I knew I was even gonna be looking at trucks….just because I had heard so many great things about it. Figured even if I didn’t buy a new vehicle I’d use it for a cabinet door or something around the house.

Lol, it was actually the first thing I installed and I love it….though my muscles do seem to be atrophying a bit.
Cause you know...all the cool guys have it donchaknow? ? ?

Welcome to the club...before we let you in, show us your damper... ?

Thank you for that education, I will not speak for all Americans, but I sometimes forget other countries were desperately fighting on their own soil for freedoms I take for granted. Many times, those freedom fighters where not in an uniform placing themselves and others in great harm. I can only hope, we would be so brave if our freedoms are threatened here.

I took the Ingot XLT to a gas station last night for some fuel. The windshield was a mess and I was shuffling back and forth between the windshield and the squeegee water bucket. I finished fueling and was reaching for the door handle. I spotted an unnoticed bird splat and went back for that squeegee one more time. I stepped on an oily spot and went down instantly. This Hawaiian-shirt-clad, sexagenarian hit the concrete with a thud. I found myself wedged between the back tire and the gas pump with a foot bent back under me. My knee was killing me and I couldn't really move.

I had finally managed to sit up and sort of get that left leg straightened out when a nice lady (in nurse scrubs) trotted up to see if I was okay. I'm sure the crash was an amazing sight for spectators. I got to my feet and assured her (and a small gathering crowd) that I was okay. I limped around all evening and am pretty good this morning. But, all that was caused by an oily spot and bird crap. Grrr.

Just finished applying turtle wax max graphine. Never used this stuff before, but pretty impressive so far. Seems higher gloss and feels slicker than the meguiars ultimate synthetic wax I use. Applied to everything paint, vinyl, plastic, glass, etc.. . .time will tell how it holds up

Nothing exciting, just another Friday morning and my monthly trip to the barber shop. Then breakfast at McDonalds.

While eating breakfast, I noticed an obviously retired man sitting nearby reading a newspaper (!) and I got to take a moment to reflect on my semi-retirement, lol. Full retirement can't come soon enough.

On the way home I stopped and made a couple pictures at the historic Dial Mill. I think it's one of the oldest ones here in GA.

It's been obscured by trees and undergrowth for years, but a lot of clean-up work has been done since the last time I passed by. The property that it's on was recently purchased and it looks like the new owner is going to build a house near it. I'm hoping the mill will get some much-needed preservation work done in the future.
