Here’s a fun question: you get an unexpected $1000. Maybe you won it at the casino, maybe you sold a kidney, maybe it’s another round of money from the government meant to stimulate the economy. Doesn’t matter how you got it, it’s a surplus you didn’t plan for and it’s burning a hole in your pocket.

Do you buy suspension parts with it? Onboard air? Rock sliders? 30 tailgate dampers? 1 tank of gas in California? Something else?

Assuming you blow the whole grand on your truck, what do you spend it on?
I'll put it in my saving account.

But seriously, I’d probably order 25 tailgate dampeners.…..
...Forgive me for my ignorance. I just bought a new Ranger and found this forum two weeks ago. I'm curious now..... what is so special about tailgate dampeners? Should I get one? ....

What is it with all y'all and your noise? I knowwww, it helps the engine breath, but it doesn't have to sound like a race car ;).

Some guys on here complain about the road noise in the cab, but then add a CAI and exhaust system (I'm guilty of that with my previous Explorer).

It's been a joke since they first came out with them. Some like myself love them and others hate them. It has nothing to do with the weight of the tailgate but just the convenience of grabbing the handle and not having it slam down. Kind of like having power windows, sure you could hand crank them but why would you?

Now seeing as you asked and I'm the Grand Poobah of dampers so here's a link in case you'd like one. Use code WELCOME at checkout for free shipping. You'll also get a special gift once you install it and post a picture. ?

As for the original question: Suspension. Then tires. Then tune. Then exhaust.

Wait, I think I went over my limit.

Have some fun with the $1,000 and get something that youll enjoy.

The most enjoyable $1,000 purchase Ive made so far is the Line-X color match spray on liner. Definitely a splurge and I dont regret spending extra for the color match.
