How do you carry 12' or longer lumber with the 5' bed on the Ranger?

With a Rac N Cap of course!

This thing is simply amazing, and incredibly priced. $1695 + tax which includes installation. Add an additional $300 if you want it powder coated. I would move fast before these catch on and the price is higher. He is located in Chino, California.

I'm fly. I'm pilot.
To answer your question: A trailer.

Or Leave the tailgate up and let seven foot of board fly in the wind. It's not like I take my lumber cross-country.

But for someone that's gonna haul a lot more often than I do (which is almost never) that thing looks pretty damn sweet.

I have trailers as well, but this thing adds the functionality of a tonneau cover (with the addition of being able to stack stuff on top when closed), in addition to a rack, without taking up a foot of bed space like the retrax does. It's also very secure underneath.

Forgot to add the cost is pretty much the same as the retrax pro

I’ve been wanting racks, but have a trifold tonneau cover and I need that for sure. I also need to be able to haul things in the bed that may be tall. This looks like a great solution for me. :)
Unfortunately, right now it's local only. Well, anyone can come, but you have to bring your truck to his shop in socal for installation. The install isn't exactly DIY friendly. I did chat with him a bit during the install though. He is considering selling to authorized installers, such as 4wd shops, to branch out.

I’ll keep my eyes open & hope it branches off down here. Have to talk my husband into it, so hopefully by that time… :)

I've done this a few times. Put towels or blankets down on the seat and window. It was good enough for 5 miles of paved roads.
I used to do something similar in my Honda Civic Si (Yes, Ive hauled 12' lumber/pipes in it). I would put the back seat and front passenger seat down, roll down the passenger window, and have it sticking slightly out of the front. With 10' boards, it would just rest on the dash if pushed as far back in the truck as it could go.

I would always envision having a lance on the car when I did it. Never hit anyone with it though.

Whenever I have to carry something long my wife will sit in the bed and hold on to it till we reach our destination. When I hear the cursing I just turn the radio louder
I did that once with a friend of mine driving. He was about 55 years old at the time, so I thought he'd be mature about it. We were taking some trash cans to a dumpster that was in the community I lived in. There were several speed bumps on the way. He sped up over every one and almost threw me out. Fucker.....lol. I never got him back for that.

Ya, that's about what I used to do with my civic. Wanted to avoid it with the Ranger, so I opted for the Rac N Cap.
