Wow Brandon sorry this happened to you! I always park way out in the back of every parking lot but it never fails someone with a junker looking like Sanford & Son always seems to find me and park right next to me.

Look on the bright side this will give you an excuse to spend some more money on mods and if you need a discount code you know who to go to for the hook up. ? I didn't want to bring this up but if had put that damper on it might have scared the SUV from parking so close to you.

I didn't read every comment and I'm sure someone mentioned this already but did you check to see if there were any cameras around? This is one of the many reasons I bought a dash cam. Hmmm Come to think of it you might need one of those too! ?

I'm just trying to make you laugh buddy and I really hope you can get it fixed cheap and find the SOB that did this. Good luck! :)
Haha a Sanford and Son car XD I will definitely be parking far now, it’ll just attract random tacos and f150’s with the occasional ranger.

I knew I should of put the aggressive damper on

I will have to check the area to see if there are cameras anywhere. Good suggestion haven’t been mentioned yet. I have been considering a dash cam, the wiring part of it worries me but it’s more unknown anxiety hah.

It seems to be a 250-350$ fix but asking around still/waiting to hear from insurance for comprehensive coverage. A good mention by a PDR was if I go through insurance it might be lit up on car fax as a collision. Definitely a consideration..

I'm not great at wiring myself but with the newer dash cams you can use the ODB port for power. This is the route I went and it was super easy to wire everything up, it took me about an hour. I did a write up here and if you need any more info, well you know who to call. ;)

Oh what the heck I know you're going to want to get one so here's the link for it and guess what, it's on sale. ?

That's not a bad price on the PDR and I would probably not go trough the insurance just to keep it free from the CarFax. Even though it wasn't a major accident I wouldn't want it on there.

Brings back same bad memory when my 90 Ranger was a month old , foot print and dent on driver door when I returned to parking lot . Luckily took off door panels and popped dent back out and buffed out foot print . Just kept asking myself why did some idiot do it to me . Since it was at a bar figured some drunk went off .

Appreciate all the info and details, Dave!! Will look into this. Yeah, most likely will go through PDR.

Stuff like this is why I always park at the back of the lot.

Between work and life experience I don't really particularly care for the human race as as a whole. I'm not sure how some of them function day to day without picture directions how to breath.

Give me my wife, a select handful of friends, 10 acres for a house, and like 6 Welsh Corgi's and I'll die a happy man.

Yup, learned the hard way :(

Haha, I also agree the human race ain't the greatest sometimes. I think you found the secret formula to happiness, maybe missing like 4 Corgis, 10 would be perfect :giggle:

Look at some idiot who slammed opened their door. It’s a huge dent… this is going to be expensive. The world is full of idiots. I’ll park super far away from here on out. Pretty sure it was on purpose without a doubt, that’s a hard opening of a door

Hard to say if it was done on purpose or not, as a lot of people are "careless idiots," as you say, who do stuff without knowing it or being aware of the consequences. Hope that you can get it fixed up without too much financial damage. My only dent was self-inflicted and I sort of learned to live with it--but not to like it--rather than spend the money and time to get it properly taken care of.

don’t matter where u park. They always seem to find you. I just Try to buddy up with someone with a nicer car lol.
But seriously, I had some one hit my car cause they were cutting through the lot instead of driving around empty spots.
Sunny,
That's right...I use the buddying method whenever I can. I went to Lowes just when Covid was settling down and people were getting back to normal. The rage was on for home improvement projects and the parking lot looked like the overflow at an NFL game. As I was pulling into the safest space I could find, a guy in a new Vette that was top end all the way parked next to me. I got out and we discussed a plan to keep us protected and we survived without an incident :whew:.

Trader Joe's is another treacherous place with small, skimpy parking lots and narrow lanes. I always park across the street at a mall that has a huge lot with an abundance of extra parking :)

I'd find out if they have cameras where this occurred. I have done that very thing before. Yes, it would be up to the management if they have cameras, to let you look at them, but I was able to find the person that damaged my previous F150. If it's a vehicle where you can't see the tag and nothing special about it, would do no good more than likely, but in my case it was a company vehicle that clipped my front end in a parking lot. I hunted them down and showed the video, they paid every penny for the repairs. You could get lucky.
