Anybody defending the brake pedal feel/actuation/ramp up on this truck must have been driving a Yugo prior to this truck... lord. It sucks, that's a fact, Ford effed up... someone needs to fix it, please.

did you carry out the test as per this?
5.2cm of travel is what i am asking you if you got.
thats 2.047" of travel.

if you're getting a longer stroke than that and your pedal is too far down, then you perform the brake bleeding procedure and see if that changes it. Have you already had your brakes bled? or are we jumping the gun here?

What a batch of BS! If you pump the brakes 5 times in 30 seconds you will have a good high hard pedal. I don't have to pump the brakes on any other vehicle I drive. No, I have not had the brakes looked at but I will. If you look at the pictures I sent, you can see the pedal is well below the gas pedal as I stated. Even someone with a very low IQ can see that's not right.

How will air in the lines make me dumber? I just put down my almost $40k and bought a truck expecting it to be good to go. I find on this forum that a lot of Rangers have the same problem as I have, low soft brake pedals. Ford needs to be proactive and get it fixed. How did air get in the system of so many trucks? If that is the problem, air will make a soft pedal but not necessarily a low pedal. For your education a tirade is a long, angry criticism or accusation. Take look at my first post and think about it. It wasn't long and I am not angry. I am however done discussing this with you.

I went from a civic type r tuned, exhaust, etc with Brembo brakes, full race coilovers and sticky wide tires. I live in the mountains and frequent the blood mountain cross. Needless to say it is not enjoyable at all in the Ranger and it is definitely not inspiring. It is actually frightening to carry any speed through the gap. I can honestly say is the worst driving modern vehicle I have driven in the mountains. Vague and squishy brake pedal feel, horrendous body sway and poor tracking. Honestly its not a fair comparison though as I have had a type r, an sti and s2000 on these roads.

My Ranger has a long way to go to be even close to my Lightning when it was stock on every front...save gas mileage. I will say I am extremely underwhelmed with the truck, but it only has 258 miles on it today. Waiting on verification from sct on the tire change capability for tuning the 2021 model and then I am pulling the trigger on 255/40/18 tires. Once Belltech releases their flip kit I'm there on lowering it also.

I don't think SS brakes lines will fix this issue. I don't know if it has anything to do with the integration of anti collision, but I have never felt a master cylinder this mushy and vague in any vehicle. My first car was a built Nova with out power brakes. It inspired more braking confidence than this truck. I'm not interested in a third party big front brake kit for $4k for calipers and rotors as that is too much for too little imo. It would need massive rotors and a crazy aggressive pad in order to bleed speed enough to be comparable. I just want confidence in braking performance, even it would just be consistent feel.

I hated it at first now I'm used to it an don't notice
I'm with you. Well almost. I never really hated it, just a different feel than my last truck (Jeep Wrangler) I press, it stops. very smooth. You drive 5 cars / trucks and they will all have a different feel.

The brake pedal feel in these Rangers is a joke. Can and will the aftermarket do something about the brakes? Not just pads and rotors... but the pedal?

Inquiring minds want to know...

I find this thread unrelatable? Nothing wrong with the braking system on our Ranger whatsoever.

Plenty of people myself included have reported improvements in mpg after these types of changes.
What mpg are you getting?

OK much like the oil dilution issue this is obviously a problem only SOME of us are faced with. And it’s really not a problem at all, it’s just an adjustment that needs to be made (provided of course you have done all the other things such as ensure your pads are bedded to your rotors, and there’s no air in the system At All). If your rangers brakes do not need to be adjusted and engage perfectly then great for you, move on with life. It’s not something that has to be lived with and it’s not something to be scared shitless about either.

About ridiculous design flaws that shouldn't need to be called out? Absolutely.

I don't have air in my system. My pads and rotors are fine. It's the design of the system. If you run hill descent control and use the brakes manually, the pedal feels perfect while it's on. Once it's off, the pedal is back to being a mushy disaster. I do hope Ford addresses it. You may tolerate it, but you have a soft pedal just like everyone else. I went to a dealer last week and asked to try two other Rangers in lieu of dropping it of for something they can't/won't address... same awful pedal.

personal preferences aren't design flaws.
your truck stops. it stops well when you need it to.
how you perceive it to feel is irrelevant to the design.

I'm currently driving 3 Fords.
A 2020 escape, a 2017 Focus and the 19 Ranger.
They all feel different incrementally, they all stop, and I can flip from one to the other without much effort. there's no drama about it.

I'm not going to tell you to adapt, but you're definitely not going to make Ford do a re-design just because you're trying to yell the loudest. Heck, if almost half the Rangers owners joined you, they'd still not do a redesign to satisfy your complaints.
the brake is what it is. don't like it, leave it.
okay buddy. Nevermind the bunches of others that hate the pedal, too, and the complaints all over the internet or the fact my dealer won’t even look at it because of how many complaints they get that can’t be solved. Your lecturing is useless.

It is your spongy flip flops. My 49 Ply needed only one pump. What is so hard about that?

YOU'RE RIGHT! I need to take off my Jesus sandals and put on some work boots. If only I had known... but thanks to you! Maybe I’ll try those old Reebok pump shoes, too. And then I’ll try the shoes with the roller blades build in for good measure. Man... thanks.
