Some do, some don't. I just use the Motorcraft syn blend that Ford suggest. I've used Fords Motorcraft in all my Fords for years, and never had a problem. Of course the other top brands will work just as well. I guess if you're towing a lot synthetic would be the way to go.

It's interesting because according to the sticker on my car the dealer put to get the oil changed at 7,000 mi... So I'm assuming they put synthetic in there

Your owners manual will tell you you can go up to 10K miles with normal driving using the syn blend. Oil has come a long way. However, I'm to old to go 7K let alone 10K. I usually change mine at 5K. We have members here that go the 10K, but I just can't do that. :)

I'm with you. 5,000. Cheap enough insurance. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic in all my vehicles

I had my first oil change yesterday at 3210 miles. I like to go a little early on the first one. I went with the blend because I plan to change every 5000. If you plan to push the max 10k mile interval, maybe use full synthetic. I note the reminder sticker the dealer put on my windshield schedules my next change at 5000 miles, which has always been my practice anyway. This is my fourth Ford truck and I‘ve accumulated over 400k miles using the blend and have never had an engine problem.

In the waiting room now, getting my 2nd oil change at about 18,500. Mobil 1 synthetic, 1st change was also M1S.

I had a 7am appt., why am I still here?

Because they probably have about two people working. Seems to be the problem everywhere right now.

A friend of mine has a French fry truck so I’m using used filtered
fryer oil. Seems to be working.

I don’t own a Ranger *yet*, but I think it calls for the same oil as my 2.7 ecoboost, 5-30. I always stick to the weight the manufacturer recommends. I always use Motorcraft semi synthetic.

One thing I am curious about though - most big name oils have already made the switch to gf-6 - yet when I get my change at the Ford dealer, the sheet is still saying Gf-5.

Has ConocoPhillips not switched to gf-6 yet, or is my local dealer just lazy and-or using up old stock.

Some of the highest mileage Ford vehicles I’ve seen have been serviced at the dealer, and hence Motorcraft oil synthetic blend. Good enough for me.

There’s a gentlemen on a forum that operates a first gen 2.7 ecoboost F-150 for his work and travels all over the country and he uses nothing but Motorcraft synthetic blend. Almost 500,000 miles with nothing but basic maintenance other than one sensor and a water pump I believe.

And smells great while driving.

My dealer suggested taking it in every 5K. There's more to regular maintenance that oil and filter.

I use Motul. Have in all my previous turbo charged vehicles as well as the Ranger. Intervals can vary! People swear by 5K but we aren't in the 90's anymore, oil and engine technology have come a LONG way since then. I check often and when its looking very dirty and I'm between that 5-10K (Km's here in BC) Ill change it. Maybe around 7K.

Hey gents 20 Xlt 4x4 here....do we all use full synthetic? What do u use?
The Ford manual states a minimum of the Synthetic blend is to be used in our truck. In extreme cold climates full synthetic is required. I myself run full synthetic 5w-30 due to tue benefits of high heat protection too!!
