First time in 17 years here in Vegas and my luck ran out. With 4,218 miles on the new truck I got a flat.

Two weeks after I got the truck I went down to discount tire to get the road hazard warranty (certificate) on all four tires. They will run from $25-33 each. I asked for veterans discount so they removed the price of one.

My LT tire would of been $200 with tax to replace. Even if you never need the replacement you get free balancing and rotation with the certificates anywhere in the nation at their store.

Discount tire, Big-O tire, etc. most tire dealerships offer the coverage but only if there is plenty of thread-life remaining. For me the free rotation and balancing is used a couple times a year.

Even when off roading the coverage will apply. Cut a sidewalk on a rock - get a replacement.

Been doing this for a long time too, its cheap insurance on something that at hi-risk because its always touching the road...
Mine cost $39 each and at that time they said the base cost of my tires were $245 each plus the 'extras'..

I've been buying tires at ATS for a few decades now. I've only paid for the insurance once. Until now it's been the right decision money wise. I'll probably have 3 rips tomorrow but that's a chance I'm prepared to take.

After plenty of issues in the past with Big-O tires I won't shop there.

Now I won't argue that having road hazard warranty is a good idea especially when going offroad. I got it when I purchased my Firestone Destination XT's the other week.

I’ll probably do this before winter considering I’m close to the wear bars now.
I had a lifetime alignment with Firestone that I used every Jan. on my 97 Ranger. If you can put up with a few dumb-mechcanic-mistakes it’s worth it.

With all the crap on the roadways these days it's not a bad idea.

@Megawatt , sorry to hear about your bad luck but I'm happy to hear the store took good care of you.

I always purchase the Certificates as well. In AZ we camp off-road a lot all year around and there are plenty of hazards. I feel I have gotten my moneys worth and them some.

I had new tires on my toyhauler and the first trip out in the desert camping with new tires I had a stick go through the sidewall of one of the tires. Thankfully I carry 2 spares and the tire was covered.

I never get extended warranties and such. I may one day regret it, but I feel that over the years I'm way ahead and can absorb any out of pocket expenses. (jinx, oh damn)
Don’t forget about free tire rotation and wheel balancing that comes with the coverage.

I have put turbo systems on my ride and can do much of my own repairs. Now I find my time more valuable than doing tire rotations so I make an appointment and have them do it for free.

Put 8000 miles on the tires and get free wheel balancing that is always needed after that many miles. Wash a tire and a wheel weight falls off, no problem free balancing. Certs are more than tire replacement.

Discount tire offers free rotations by me, even without buying tires from them. I've never needed a rebalance after purchasing tires.

They just tore the roofs off in my condo complex....I'm worried about finding any nails they left in the driveways. I've had one patched already but it was minor...the tip of the nail barely broke the seal. In the water tank one bubble would pop up every ten seconds or so.

Maybe if I get a few nails I'll run to discount tire for some 265/70/17's

Agreed.

Extended warranties and extra insurance are a win for the house in my book.

Learned this just out of high-school working @ Radio Shack. They didn't care if all you sold all day was a $5 phone, as long as you sold the extended warranty on it. Because it was considered 100% profit.

I get the free rotations and balancing. I just don’t pay for full replacement.
