Started it this morning. Everything good. Put in reverse, backed out of garage. Everything fine. Shifted to drive, and all kinds of lights started coming on. Terrain management failure, anti-lock brake light, traction control light, etc. looked like a Christmas tree flashing on the dash. I turned off ignition, restarted. No lights. Drive to work, about 17 miles. No issues. Got to work, and parked, but left running. Dumped some trash, then backed up to turn around, all lights came in again. So, I guess I am about to call the dealer and make an appointment. This is strike one.

Did you auto start/stop work during your drive? If not, what did the fuel economy menu button describe as the reason? Premature battery failure is not uncommom.

Once you got out of the garage the Ranger had a clear satellite path and thus was able to report your position to Skynet. jk

Events, such as you describe, sure don't instill a feeling of "confidence".

Curious what trim level truck you have, if it's a 2019, 2020,or 2021 and how many miles are on it?

I had auto start/stop turned off the entire time. I turn it off each time I start it.

2020 FX4 Lariat, not even 3000 miles yet.

Don't turn it off next time and see if it works. When it doesn't after a few miles check the fuel economy menu button and find out why. My bet is that it says that it's disabled due to battery charging.
My only problem with my truck is the battery and charging system. I've already had Ford replace a battery under warranty. I drive it almost everyday and typically 40 mile trips. I wouldn't buy it again if I wasn't going to drive it very much.

Sounds like a speed sensor is bad or the connector is loose.

Ok. I’ll try that. If that happens, you think it’s a bad battery?

Strike one?

So you already came into this looking for a reason to get angry huh?
How about waiting to find out how serious it is before you start the countdown.
As pointed out, you could have a simple battery issue or a loose connector
I mean it’s a brand new truck... I’d also be mad if this happened to me.

Yea, 2020, not even 3000 miles. A little frustrated? Yes.

Sell it to Carvana. You'll probably make some money. Not sure the deals on new vehicles are good in the Arkansas market though.

The unknown is always frightening. Had something similar when I swapped out wheels and then again with a tire change. Was thinking “are you kidding me” this is a brand new truck ! Took it to the dealer, no issues. Never happened again. Dirty sensors in grill, dirty windshields with light reflecting funny etc can trigger all kinds of funky stuff. Try to think about what changed in each episode see if you can narrow it down. I agree with the above posters, probably no big thing.

Did you do anything to your ranger recently like remove your tire for any reason? If you did anything, retrace your steps and make sure everything was put back okay. Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.
