Hey all,

Newer member here. Just purchased a 2020 Lariat a month ago and was playing with the FordPass App and it says I have 42,000 points. I tried to use the Ford website to see how this translated to buying things , but every site I go to (local Ford dealers) as well as the Ford.com site do not make it clear how they can be used.

I wanted to get mudflaps, and not sure how many points that would take, or even if they would work. Ford seems to want you to use them on oil changes, but I do that myself so thought I'd get gear, but websites don't have a "this costs 20k points" or something like that.

How do these points work? Are they essentially just "Itchy and Scratchy Bucks"? (please someone get that reference :D )

42,000 = $210.00

You can buy anything from Ford including service with these points. You can not order online and only use these at the dealership. When I bought my battery maintainer I just picked it up at the parts counter and went over to the cashier. Give them your email that's attached to your FordPass and they take the points off. Now some dealers have no clue how to due this so I'd call yours first before wasting a trip over there.

Ah! Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the heads up. I'll call my dealership and see if they are familiar. I would suspect so, but will make sure.

And 42,000 being only $210! I totally thought I was gonna be able to get way more things, but better than nothing I guess!

Thanks again

I experienced this the other day. Went to the dealership I bought the truck fr and inquired about it. The parts desk guy told me you could only use the points on vehicle service.

Guess I'll have to call another dealership to see if they know. Unless it's a Canada thing that you can't use them for parts ?

I'm not sure about CA but you can use them for anything that Ford sells in the accessory catalog and for service. Hopefully you can find another local dealer to help you out.

Did you get 42,000 points by purchasing the truck or did you have other things done?

You get the initial 42K points for purchasing the truck. You have to set up your Ford app and then it takes anywhere from 1-4 weeks before the points are deposited into your account. My dealer set mine up while we were waiting for the finance guy to finish with someone else. I had my points in about 10 days.

I got them with the purchase of my Lariat. I had no idea what they were and was not told about them when I purchased, so had no clue how they worked.

Probably give ya points for a 'new' purchase I'm assuming. I bought my 2019 last year with 7500 miles on it. So not 'new'.

That's kind of a load of BS. I'll bet you paid a lot for that pickup. And guessing you got from a dealer so it seems like points should have applied.

Make sure you set up your preferred dealer. I got an extra 1,000 points for that. Sitting pretty at 43,000 trying to figure out how to use them also.

Just did that, but didn't see points attach. Will look further. Thanks for the heads up!

Mine wasn’t an instantly added in at time of selection. The other day when opening the app to start the truck I saw a notification about an “upgrade” to my points.

you can also earn points when you get certain dealer services. When I get my oil changed the past 3 times with the works package I've paid with Ford Pass points but I also earned points on those 3 services.
