New Purchase - things to check at dealer

Finally found a XLT 302A FX4 but it's being brought to my dealer so i can't see it until i go to pick it up.

What are some things to check for before i finalize the deal? Certain body panels known to be off? I read about the vibration at slow acceleration. Anything else?

Make sure you get all 6 bed tiedown hooks

Check:

• All fluid levels, tire pressures incl. the spare if equipped
• Fit & finish of all body and interior trim pieces, operation of all doors, tailgate & hood
• Dealer add-ons if any missing/poor installation, wrong type/brand (running boards, bedliner etc)
• Presence of a jack- does the seat re-latch (problem on some)?
• All lights incl. CHMSL, cargo, back up, lic. plate
• Wiper/washer function
• Windows/Locks both key fobs, incl. tailgate, and outside keypad if equipped

Only takes 15 minutes. Remember, you are the one who's going to live with it, and it is much easer to get any discrepancies addressed before they log it sold. Your salesperson should have inspected it before you arrive and have no objection to letting you inspect it before signing.

This says 6 found under the 2020 ordering and fleet options sticky at the top of this sub forum

I only had 4 on my 2019. When I questioned the dealer - I was told 4 standard and 6 as an option. Now I don't fully trust this dealer. Have the discussion.

My 2020 only has four. Nothing was said about the possibility of six when I ordered.

Same. I only got 4 on my 2019. I'm sure they made the change somewhere to save a few bucks per truck. I'd fight for the extra 2 and show them the brochure above.

Tire pressure. This will let you know if the dealer checks out the vehicle. Most of the 19 's were too high by around 10 lbs.

I don't see anywhere on the sticker where it references bed tie downs. However i looked at every '20 Ranger on the lot and they all only had 4.

Got the above for $36k. I think that's a fair price.

4 started midway or later in production on 19’s. There’s conflicting info out there but Ford calls it running changes. Some have gotten 2 more when asking dealers showing documentation. I didn’t bother for our 20.

You can either make a stink and try to get the dealer to pay for 2 or you can just order 2. Ford made a change, they come with 4 now. It was a stupid change, but it is what it is. If you want to play lawyer and wave around a brochure please be aware that the fine print on the brochure says that everything in it is subject to change without notice.
