And that's why I keep fixing my 23 yr old washer and gas dryer. Bought some of the last ones that didn't have electronic control panels. Still have the mechanical timers.
Though my washer may be past the point of fixing. Was just talking with the wife about shopping for a new one before they get more expensive and don't clean as well.
I don't mind the new dryers, I just hate the washers. I left a 18 year old set in my condo because they fit the openings for the new owner but looking back I miss that washer. It was only a mid capacity but for a single guy or couple it was plenty.

I'm going to have to buy an old wringer washer to prewash my clothes before putting them in my new high tech $1,600 washer!

I'll never buy one of those fancy front load washers that have 52 cycles with 15 water temps.
I'll stick to the basic top loader l that you can still get for $500 - $600. Bought one 10 years ago and no problems. Everyone I know that had the fancy front loaders had them fail within 5-7 years.

We had the fancy front loader washer dryer combo left to us in the house we just bought. We immediately found we hated that pair and Jeanie picked us out a more low tech and traditional pair from Maytag that we love. Top load basic wash cycles. KNOBS, not digital.

Knobs are cool still, I don't care what the hip young whippersnappers tell you.

Now GET OFF MY LAWN!

Front loader, 23 yrs old. Replaced the motor once after 10 yrs. Cleaned the mechanical timer twice and soldered a loose connection on the circuit board. Think I paid $1,200 with a dryer back then.
And back on topic...
Next one I'll be gettin for the woman will be water saving and no lectricty.

It may just come to that. Thank goodness husband has taken over the washing & drying the past couple of years. Think I’ll let him continue. ;)

This is the latest technology. It combines solar with wind principles to dry your clothes.
i used one of those at my grandparents house for years. they had an electric dryer. but it made the house hot. sun and breeze was free. run ac or run the dryer- no contest.

Hook an antenna wire to the pole and your TV set and see if anything comes in

ok this may show just how redneck I am but.... If you put a 102 inch ss whip on the T of the clothes line it works pretty good for CB... low angle of radiation for local ratchet jawing..
