Go for it...who wouldn't like a bigger payment...
That's the thing I haven't had a payment since my '19 and the only reason I had one on that was because it was 0%. Now after trade in I'm guessing I'd have to come up with around $30K-$35K which really isn't worth it for me. Heck, I could keep my Tremor and buy a new Camry hybrid for around $32K which I'm still contemplating on doing.

That's nice and wish we had those here. I had rooftop solar on my last house and it was great not having an electric bill and only paying for the fees/taxes which were around $17.00/month. I paid for mine (not leased) and the ROI was only 7 years and I'd do it again but they took away the net metering so the values not really there anymore.
Were you able to sell your excess to the grid before? For people in certain areas in the west up here, that was the big thing that shortened the ROI. Folks were “getting paid” to go solar.

No we had net metering. The electric company (APS) would take back your excess every month and "bank" it for you. Then once summer came and you used more than you produced they would credit you back the excess that took from you. I usually had around 2,200 kWh banked by the time June rolled around and it was plenty to make up what I needed throughout the summer.

It sucks they took that away. I remember the high summer demand for my place in the valley but I guess in certain areas of the continent that might not be an issue.

If you did set it up, would they still get your excess and give you nothing for it or is it simply not passed along to the greedy bandits?

Oops, hi-jacked. Oh wait, old thread…and it’s yours.

No now they cash you out at the end of each month and only give you (IIRC) around .03/kWH which is a joke. So from Jan - May when you're not using much electricity you're getting pennies on the dollar for your overage and in the summer you'd never produce enough to cover all your use. You'd have to size your system so large it wouldn't be worth it 5-6 months of the year. What's BS is they want you to "go green" yet they take away all the incentives to do it! 🤦‍♂️

LOL, know that one..Been well, following your posts and others since I joined in 2019. Wife and I are moving, finally pulled the plug and leaving California for North Carolina, a bit sad too, born and raised in SoCal, State is circling the drain and its time for greener pastures, literally.
You will get over So Cal real soon once you’re gone. I moved out to WI, in 2023 after being there almost 45 years. Never really missed it once I was gone from there.

Morganton, we're taking a small load out next Friday, move will probably take place by 1st of June ish.
One of these days, we'll have to have a WNC R5G meet-up at Six Pence pub in Blowing Rock. It'll be about 45 minutes for each of us, and a bit further for @Msfitoy, but I know he likes to head up that way anyway. If @alan0614 is still around, he's in that area, too.

Yes that's the same system we have here, it has paid for our system many times over by now, but no longer as lucrative as it used to be. At one stage we were getting 40 cents / kilowatt hour for power fed back in to the grid. It's now down to 15 for the first 10 kwh and 4 for every kwh after per day. Solar uptake in Australia has been so big that power is effectively free for the middle couple of hours in the day even if you are not on solar- they just can't get rid of it!

Been here nearly 70 years, there are things I will miss, people are NOT one of them, well at least certain people. I think once this coast to coast move is done and I'm settled Im inclined to agree with you, thanks for the vote of confidence.

I grew up and spent 51 years in MA and when I left in late 2015 I never looked back. I've never been back since and while I do miss my family and my longtime friends all I can say is GOOD RIDDANCE! :puke:

My only regret moving to AZ is that I didn't do is sooner! My business and family were the only things keeping me there but in the end even those things weren't enough to wanna stay anymore. I can almost bet you'll feel the same and I wouldn't even stress about it because you'll have a much better life ahead of you in NC. Well, as long as you're not to close to Sid that is. lol :giggle:

You're 2 hours west of me...welcome to NC neighbor! I'm in the Triad area...ahhhh June 1st...my last day as a salary man...
Assume you're retiring? I retired in 22, still work some part time for the company I retired from but unless they want to pay airfare it looks like Im done with that too. Wife just retired, why the move, cheaper country to live in than Cali. Looking forward to it too
