@JGF. On the advise of a very good friend, I bought several of these. Even put one on top of my cabin air filter. Didn't at all, but the smell was strong. Four months later wife still complains.
A week ago another friend gave me a can of spray repellent. I soaked the rear carpet from side to side and placed a trap on the center hump. Next day there was a mouse in the trap, and every other day since.
It's well known rodents don't like light so a small light inside the truck and under the hood is my next approach although I have not recently had rodents attack my under hood wiring - yet! However, they have nibbled on the engine cover.
Getting tired of having to deal with mice almost EVERY DAY. I'm a little lazy but need to take the "stuff" on the bulkhead behind the rear seat and install some wire mesh over the existing air pressure relief openings in the lower each side corners. Pretty sure that's the entry point.
They suck! Ate some of my battery blanket and chewed clean through a battery tender wire. Nothing like what happened to @DukeCanBuildit! His was bad and disable the truck (I think).

I have peppermint spray and peppermint pouches zip tied in place. I doubt they do anything. But I spray it a few times a month ...

I tend to leave the hood open in hopes that the light and openness discourage them, but that's only a few times a week. I also use the air compressor to blow out nut hulls and blast under the engine cover. But now my compressor won't turn on - little bastards probably ate those wires too! =p

I just ordered some other oil-based stuff that a member (above) here has had good luck with. Only time will tell.

I think success depends on your environment and some other mysterious factors. There doesn't seem to be any one thing that works for all (I'd buy it, even if expensive, if there was).

Can you pop the battery out and find the other half of the wire where it has dropped down in the gap?
Actually found the the wire in 2 pieces and the black hose covering ford uses. The connector was still in bottom of positive terminal so I pulled it out without dropping it (actually tied string to it just in case). I have a lot of colored wire so I soldered a piece of wire to the connector then put some head shrink sleeving over it and soldered the other end attached to the truck harness. Was a bit tricky reinstalling the connector but I managed. Now the wire is tucked in between the battery and the fuse box.

Yup that looks like the mice around my house. I keep cats inside the house and also feed the feral cats outside. So far them lil dang meeses and evil tree rats have not ate anything on my truck.

@Stan. That Tomcat stuff is what I used to soak my rear carpet before placing a trap on the center hump. Caught a mouse the following day. Go figure.

A few years ago I had a "Mensa Mouse." That little bugger would eat the peanut butter off a trap that was so sensitive I had to carefully set it down three times before I could do so without it tripping. I then tried the 5-gallon pail trick; 5-gallon pail half filled with water and then spread peanut butter around the pail just above the water. Lean a paint stick on top for access. Guaranteed. Right. Next day the peanut butter was gone and so was the mouse. Now it me vs. the mouse. Bought one of those traps that teeters back and forth, closing when the mouse goes in and rocks the trap over center to get the bait, closing the trap door. Next day the peanut butter was gone and so was the mouse...that little bugger. Tried it again and finally caught the guy. Took him over to the neighbors and let him go, unfortunately he ran directly into a rock, hitting his head and died. heh, heh, heh. Another friend has suggested the 5-gallon pail trick, only using a stick through a can with the peanut butter at the far end of the can. The mouse steps on the can to get the peanut butter, the can turns dropping the mouse into the water. Haven't tried that one yet. Sounds interesting tho.

YIKES!!! MICE are worse than rats. In the past 3 years I have kept a score. Rats 0, Me 11.

The Wiring Diagram is not 100% Clear on this but deduced that the only 20 Gauge wire going to the Battery Mounted Fuse Link is the Power (Battery Voltage) feed to the BMS sensor on the negative terminal.

I have deduced as follows:
By Connector #

C1135A = (4 Gauge) - Bolt On - Starter
C1135B = (20 Gauge) -Plug In - BMS Sensor (Note: Plugs in from Bottom) - Not Shown
C1135C = (1 Gauge) - Bolt On - Battery Junction Box (BJB) Power Feed
C1135D = (1 Gauge) - Bolt On - (Fused 225 Amp) - Generator
C1135E = (4 Gauge) - Plug In - (Fused 125 Amp) - Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)

Hey, unrelated and I know this post is old, just want to thank you for the great close up of the better terminal. I changed my battery out the other day and this morning truck wouldn't start. Found positive terminal was loose and realized I had switched the two lead pieces

Hello- realize this is an old post and my comments are unrelated. Just wanted to thank you for this detailed pic of the battery terminal. Truck wouldn't start this morning, checked the battery and the positive terminal was loose and I couldn't get it to tight down. Searching the forum to see if anyone has had a similar issue, came across this photo and realized after seeing your pic, when I'd changed out the battery a few months I accidentally reversed the metal “split-cube” 180 degrees. So the bottom part wasn’t pushing against the batter terminal to close it. So, thanks for this!

Your Mensa Mouse sounds like "The Brain"... from Pinky and The Brain! :LOL:
