I got the recall notice in the mail a week ago and called my dealer to schedule the repair. Much to my surprise the dealer indicated the windshield would be replaced and they would have to order it. It came in in roughly a week and is scheduled for replacement on August 25.
Same here. Waiting for windshield to come in and will re-sync with glass company to do repair at dealer location. Probably another 2 weeks or so to wait.

So is every windshield within the suspect group going to be replaced?

This is a pain.
The last couple windshields I had put in on other trucks by professionals put them in
crooked and ended up with paint issues. I'm really hesitant to do anything.
Doesn't a recall only come up if it goes for sale or trade in and has to be state inspected......
Or any time you take it in for any other warranty repair.

I was told mine would just be removed and resealed. They did say it could take up to a week to complete so maybe they could be having to replace some that break. Hopefully they use OEM sound screen windshields if they replace them. Doesn't the camera system need recalibrating if they are replaced also?

the initial wordage was to remove and re-install the windshield.
but perhaps too many were getting broken on the removal process and they changed their direction.
Wondering if the removed windshields are returned to Ford to be cleaned up and installed in 2023’s ?

My notice says "remove and reinstall".

Perhaps the wait for parts is for the urethane adhesive.

I would expect Ford to be kind of particular about what adhesive/sealant, expiration date, etc.

When I finally managed to have someone at my local dealer call me back to see how this recall would be handled, I was given a day and time to show up. They arranged for a glass company to be at the dealership. I showed up as instructed and was told they wouldn't get to mine that day. They said they will call me with a new appointment. Still haven't heard from them and it's going on 2 weeks.

At this point, I'm more inclined to not get this done at all.

I need to ask when I pick my truck next week did they redo my window.
It was at the bodyshop to have some paint and dent issue taken care of from sitting on Ford lot in MI or during transport..
If they didn't I may wait, I'd hate to have leaks or road noise from them doing it
The perfect solution would be for me to wait till I get a crack and then have it replace/resealed

Just an random aside, I got a new windshield for a crack (not recall) and the guy was talking about how much of a pain it was to do this recall. He has a hell of a time getting the windshields out while Ford told him they should come off easy. It's a lot of scrapping since he has to reuse the windshield.

Exactly. Much easier to change windshield if you are not going to reuse.

From the sound of it. Just set the air bags off and catch the windshield as it pops out would be the easiest way to remove it ?. I just looked at mine and it doesn't look like a easy job to do without damaging something.

Just dropped off my truck for the windshield reseal/replacement. The service tech said that the glass shop wouldn’t do the job without getting a replacement window. Cleaning the old windshield is too time consuming.

Just call me a pessimist, but I took pictures of the truck all the way around inside and out when I dropped it off. I just wanted to document the drop off condition in case things go amiss.

I was pessimistic for no reason. Installation was clean and relatively quick (a couple of hours). I see no damage to anything and it looks like an exact replacement. Bravo for Ford of Dalton.

Fortunately windshield replacement should be simple. My 2017 Escape had the windshield replaced right in my driveway. Only annoying part was the manufacturer stamp on the replacement was in the center bottom of the windshield and it always caught my eye from that day onward.

ALWAYS a good idea. AND best to do it IN FRONT of the service writer.

The ONLY reason I now own a Ranger (and am generally happy with it, short of the potential windshield issue that is 100% the fault of Ford, and I of course cross my fingers with all the other potential issues others raise here on the forum) is because the vehicle I had before it (2021 Honda Ridgeline, w/ just over 1k mi on it at the end) also had a window issue, rear window that leaked from the day I bought it new. An issue that Honda / Honda Dealer spend nearly 50 days with my truck to try and fix, never did, and during the "attempts" caused damage to the interior / exterior of my "new truck". All of this turned into me needing a lawyer and finally getting a full "buy back".

So now I have my new shiny 2022 Lariat - Tremor, and of course it is one that qualifies for the recall.

My Ranger as of today has 1055mi on it. I've given it a LOT of thought, and have done some testing, looking for leaks, which I can NOT find. Soooo... based on that, AND the nightmare that the Honda was, I am NOT going to deal with the recall, not now anyway.

I have called Ford and the dealer to confirm what the law AND Ford says - that there is NO expiration date on a recall such as this. Sooooo I'm going to enjoy my new / perfect (looking) Ranger. Some time, down the road, I may get a crack or chip in the windsheild. Then I'll deal with that and the recall issue all at once.

I just don't trust anyone to do this (or really any work) work on my vehicle. Factory service mechanics (and in the case of a windshield, it would be a "3rd party" doing the work, as it was with my Honda) are too rushed to take the time to do a job right.

Now... about the LONG list of "deleted" things on the truck, things you used to get... And about the "bucking issues", the vibration issues, the paint issues... etc., etc. others here report! WTF Ford? Does any manufacturer build anything well anymore? Remember the old Ford commercials, "Ford, where quality is job one!"?

Well if Ford hadn't cheeped out on the adhesive and or install procedures, they wouldn't be recalling 60,000+ Rangers / Broncos. The few cents they saved is costing them (or their corporate insurers, AND therefor US in the end) plenty.
