Took my first road trip with the Tremor today. Drove mostly on the interstate at speeds between 75 and 82 (Thanks Texas and Oklahoma!) and averaged 23.5 mpg. I was really impressed by the mpg until I got out at my destination and realized I had been driving in a 30mph tailwind the whole way!

I did find the 5 hour drive to be quite comfortable. The adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance are very well executed, in many ways better than my 2018 Volvo it is replacing. It was a very easy and enjoyable ride.

My window sticker stated 24 mpg highway, and seems to be accurate. Most of my miles are a 212 mi round trip through hilly eastern IA. Strong head/tail winds can change this +- 6 mpg. Zero wind trips are 24.5-25 mpg.

My MPG figures seem to be closely in line with advertised values. Maybe 1/2 MPG lower with studded snow tires, or the new set of heavier road tires. No complaints.

Best I have done on the highway has been 26mpg. In town no better than 15 to 17 mpg. Mind you my trips are usually no more than 10 miles so there's that.

Admittedly didn't read all 4 pages. Keep in mind how they test for mileage. IIRC, they are not driving 65mph for highway driving, it's 55mph. Maybe things have changed in how they test. My around town really rural driving is 50-60 mph and I easily get 24mpg in the summer, with summer blend fuel. Winter is more 20+ . We all knew to take that rating with a grain of salt, or should have.

An excerpt from Motortrend.com

Through the '07 model year, two Federal Test Procedure (FTP) tests were performed, consisting of city and highway driving programs. The city dynamometer schedule began with a cold engine (cold engines require more fuel), included 23 stops, had an average speed of 20 mph, and topped out at 56 mph over a period of 31 minutes. The highway schedule entailed a warm engine, no stops, 48 average mph, and high of 60 mph covering a 10-mile distance. The fuel economy numbers were then adjusted down: 10 percent city and 22 percent highway to allow for realistic driving.

Now imagine driving 70mph, your mpg will drop considerable, at least mine does. Heavy foot, last minute braking etc all takes its toll.

With my window sticker, Uses Gas, I always thought MPG was a simple abbreviation for Must Purchase Gas !!!

This is funny, unless I'm reading it wrong (read it several times) Ford Authority screwed up the info;

"Plaintiffs in the lawsuit claimed that both the Ranger and F-150 feature fuel economy ratings that are considerably higher than what the window stickers state, which forces owners to pay thousands of dollars more for fuel over the course of ownership than expected."

I wish it was higher than what the window sticker states :facepalm:

FWIW, I have never owned a vehicle that I did not do better than the EPA estimates and that includes the Ranger. The EPA estimates for my Ranger Tremor is 19/19/19 mpg. I regularly get 24 to 25 on the highway starting from a full tank and driving at least 200 miles. My around town driving nets me 22 to 23 mpg. I do not pay attention to city mileage because I so seldom drive in the city enough to know and depending on the traffic conditions you could be spending up to half your time sitting and idling which is zero mpg.

The Grumpy Edition is said to get around 18 MPG, but the Happy edition is around 22, while the Sleepy and Dopey Edition are too lazy to move.

175mi trip to Estes and back yesterday. Including the "spirited" drive up the mountain, catching up to a Jag on the highway that a psgr wanted to ID, and leaving a bozo in a shit box in the dust that was trying to squeeze me out of a lane: grand total for the trip was like 19.5

Also includes my RTT and 300lbs of camping payload so I'm fairly pleased with that
