Hi Terry,

How else can I watch all the tapes of the Ford commercials of old where I was featured or in a cameo roll??? My ego would suffer so much, NOT!

Just want to give a huge shoot out to all those that have posted info and links here ... with your help, this old non techie type guy has taught and older Vista computer (bought at a pawn shop that someone had upgraded to windows 10) an OBD device and myself to "Speak Ford" using the interpreter ForScan and to rid myself of the three complaints I've had with my truck.

Start Stop - disabled
Panic Button - Disabled
Double Honk when the Fob leaves the truck - Disabled

Again, Thank the researchers, the techies and most of all, the brave "Guinea Pigs" that were willing to test theses things and post confirmation.

Thank You
Maybe there is hope for me?

If I can do it, anybody can ... LOL
I've been considering jumping into Forscan. This thread gives me hope I can do it without bricking my truck.

Eventually I'd like to...

Change tire size
Remove engine noise from cab
Enable Bambi mode
Add factory "fogs" to DRLs

The big steps for me where:

Load ForScan
Load Drivers for the OBD thingie

At this point it "talked" to the truck, but I couldn't "do" anything. (the directions for the OBD thingie said to press the start button twice. I did that about fifteen times until I realized I was turning the ignition on then off ... seems once is all you need)

Get an extended License
Load License to Forscan

I took screen shots of the spreadsheet Fromm this sites wiki for the three things I wanted to change.

Next I watched a bunch of videos from the ForScan website.

At this point, I headed out early morning (at my age I'm sharper in the morning ... LOL) with a cup of coffee, set up a chair outside the truck, a 4x4 to level the computer on the drivers seat (it's. a very old laptop, big and heavy, still has a cd reader ... unlike my Mac that is all solid state and only 13"). All set, I started the computer, plugged in the OBD thing to the computer, then the truck .. verified the green light. Next I pushed start once, then opened ForScan and pressed the connect button. After it read the truck, made my changes and got out of Dodge.

My coffee didn't even cool down ... LOL ... then I verified that AS/S was disabled, tried the panic button, and checked for the double honk.

To be honest, getting the truck to talk to ForScan is way harder to do than make changes. Ya know, if you don't speak confuser.

I kept remembering what Scotty Said, "The more complicated you make the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drains".

Hmmmm ... maybe it's time to look into other mods.

Hmm, There is a certain top heavy female YouTuber that uses that phrase. Do you know her, Naomi Wu? She has great... uh... videos.

Still have that exact model on my bed side stand. Still works great. Used the alarm right up till I retired.
