I had blizzaks on my focus, I really liked them and I know they had Lt sizes/ratings. I think any brand name winter tire will be a safe bet though. I’ve heard good things about Nokian as well

Assuming you are looking to have a dedicated set of winter tires, I can speak for both nokian tires and Bridgestone blizzacks. Which one is better? I honestly have no idea

My vote goes to Falken Wildpeak AT4. BY FAR the best wet weather/snow tires I’ve ever had on any vehicles I’ve driven. I have them on both mine and the wife’s Ranger. Neither of us have had to use chains since I put these tires on our trucks. Yes, they’re 3 peak rated.

Where we live, we easily get 12+ feet of snow during the winters and not all the roads around here are maintained or plowed regularly. I’ve been really impressed with these tires in both wet and dry conditions. They also come with a 60k mile warranty (I think this depends on where you buy them? I’ve heard of some people not being offered that warranty. Make sure you verify before purchasing!). I’ve had all sorts of name brand tires on my vehicles over the years. Nitto, Goodyear, BF Goodrich, etc… Falken has out-performed all of them in wet/snow conditions.

Thankyou very much for the advice. I like the look of all those tyres but can’t find them my size!
only ones are wranglers, which look dreadful in the wet.
will keep checking websites for my tyre size.
Thanks

I can't say which one is going to be better than the other, but these are in your size and should work just fine as dedicated Snow tiees

Funny you should ask... just swapped out the summers (on their own wheels) for the Blizzak DM-V2 that I have used on all my Rangers. Work great here in Minnesota snow country.

(PS: Used them on my wife's vehicles as well till we got her a Volvo SUV and went with Hakkapeliitta to keep with the Nordic theme and it's so much fun to say "Hakkapeliitta" lol. And they are also very good in the snow/ice)

I've used Blizzak DM-V2's on my wife's last couple of minivans and they go as good in snow and probably stop and turn better than my 4x4 Ranger.
The Ranger just gets all-terrains year-round, it's a 4x4 so it's fine.
A few years ago I got a used Jeep for my daughter that came with Firestone Winterforce and they were very good also and cost less than Blizzaks.
But I'm in the U.S. so I'm not sure what's available in the U.K.

@markranger67, whereabouts in the UK are you? What's your environment like, because that will affect what your needs are re: winter tires.

I used to live in the Benelux and we never had much in the way of snow accumulation, but the roads were almost always wet and black ice was THE real issue in the winter. Now, I live in ON, and my winter driving conditions involve a lot more snow and generally drier roads, although ice is always an issue.

My tires now need to "grip" the snow more than they ever did over there, but they don't have to be quite as good at wicking away moisture because it's generally drier.

As I recall, the majority of the UK has weather like the Benelux, but there are pockets which might more closely resemble my current conditions.

Hi, really helpful info thanks, I’ve been researching for last few months and not getting anywhere apart from wranglers in Uk.
I live in south uk, but travel down to the alps over winter, so need a decent cold/rain tyre for uk and one with 3 peaks on for France Italy.
Looking online blizzaks and winterforce don’t appear in my size but I will go talk to them in person, I can also ask Ford helpline tommorow.
thanks

https://www.mytyres.co.uk/ for tire search in UK.

Atleast in Finland they deliver the tires to chosen shop.
