It looks like there will not be a 2024 Super Cab and I want a Super Cab. If 2023 is the last year for the Super Cab, I will need to order one. However, I am not ready to replace my 2002 Ranger yet and I would like to see if Ford is going to build a 2024 Super Cab. That means I want to wait as long as I can to order one.

I guess I could wait to see if there is anything in stock at a dealer that I would want, but that seems kind of risky. The main thing I want is FX4 Super Cab. Other items I can add if I want them and are not included. I plan to upgrade to Tremor suspension.

I certainly don't now the answer. But if I was in your shoes, I'd be getting nervous. I think by late January I'd be getting OMG nervous. Ford is going to be anxious to flip that switch for the 2024 production. And depending on when/where/how the 2023 orders come in, I'd be apprehensive about my magic 8 ball giving me the right answer. I do agree that waiting to see what is on the lot is a real crap shoot. Super cab drops the odds even farther. Exponentially so.

Best of luck to you with your quest!

I thought July was when they started getting the production line ready for the next model year. I guess if they have enough orders to fill up that time, they would just stop taking orders. Then again, I think that since 2024 brings out a new model change, most people would be wanting to wait for a 2024. That is except for people like me that want a Super Cab.

I did a search for dealer inventory within a 100 mile radius. It came up with a little over 30 that were similar to what I want but not one was a Super Cab. It looks like finding a Super Cab at a dealer will be next to impossible.

I may have to just keep my 02 longer. It runs great an is exactly what I need, but it will get to the point that some parts will be difficult to find. I don't like the idea of pulling parts at a salvage yard.

I guess the supercab take rate is really really low. When I was hunting for mine 99% of what was on lots was supercrew. Having a 6 foot bed is nice, especially if you don't have a family who needs usable back seats.

I ended up buying used because I couldn't find any new supercabs. Mine had just 14k miles, came with the 'ford gold' cpo warranty; which basically means the balance of the factory warranty, plus an extended 100k drivetrain warranty. Who knows, by the time you're ready to upgrade you might find a used/off-lease ranger that checks enough boxes. Mine had everything I wanted (I mean, it's fully loaded ;-)) except the color, but I was willing to live with that after searching for months.

Generally it shouldn't cost you a dime to order a vehicle.

Order it now, it's gonna take a while. If '24 offers a SCab for some reason you can abandon your order.

I would second this advice. Wanting a super cab with the Tremor package would most likely be very uncommon and hard to find. I don't know when the order banks will close for 2023, but it can't be too much longer I wouldn't expect. With all the parts shortages, etc, it may be that they shut down 2023 sooner than you would expect.

I just did some looking over at the blue oval forums and they used to have lots of very detailed data on this kind of thing. It appears the key guy who posted it no longer has access to the data, so I couldn't find anything on dates for the 23 order banks.

If you don't order soon, you may not be able to. The last info I saw was from back in October and they were already scheduling Rangers thru the end of 2022.

I ordered with a refundable deposit for just this reason. If we find out there will be a 6gen '24 Supercab option before my '23 is built in February I will cancel.

I will take a look into that. I have a feeling a dealer will want some kind of non-refundable deposit. Maybe I can find one that will not require it.

Your build is very much like the build I want. I want the Oxford White though. I like Silver but metallic paints are very difficult to touch up. I do a lot of long adventures off-road and get chips and dings. I also like my truck to look nice and have learned how to touch up to keep it that way.

Depends on the dealership.

Many won't charge a deposit ar all. And most who charge one will refund it if you back out.

In my experience a lot of dealers will want a small deposit for a custom order. Usually $500. Most states in the US have laws which state that any deposit for a vehicle order must be refundable, up to the time that the vehicle is actually purchased. Like, the car arrives on the lot, you look at it, and you change your mind...deposit refunded.

If you live in California, per your profile, then I am pretty darned sure you are covered. A quick google search yields CA Vehicle Code 11736, section (c):

It is unlawful for any dealer licensed under this article to do any of the following when brokering a retail sale:
....
(c) Fail to refund any purchase money, including purchase deposits, upon demand by a consumer at any time prior to the consumer’s signing of a vehicle purchase agreement with a selling dealer and taking delivery of the vehicle described in the brokering agreement.
I don't think that you can sign a vehicle purchase agreement until the vehicle has a VIN assigned at the earliest. So if a dealer wants a deposit, it'll be refundable (so long as you don't sign a purchase agreement). The use of 'and' here makes me think you could wiggle out of the deal and get the refund back even if you did sign a purchase agreement, so long as you didn't take delivery of the vehicle. But I ain't no law-talkin' guy.

We might be brothers; I also have a rock solid 2002 Ranger that I hate part with after 18 years. However as I understand it, 2023 looks like the last call for Super Cabs. As a class A shade tree mechanic I can confirm your apprehensions about parts availability becoming an issue. I have had to make due with some rather questionable non OEM pieces due to a steady advancement of "no longer available" situations. Plus I am just too @#^% old to climb around U-pull it yards these days. On October 20, I pulled the trigger on a new 2023 Super Cab XLT 2wd. Just yesterday I got my auto generated Dear John letter from Ford noting that they were so sorry that 45 days have passed since my order with no change in status. My concern was that with the gen 6 change over that Ford might stop tacking orders for 2023 Rangers sooner than latter. Good luck with whatever you decide. As always your actual mileage may vary.

Remember the rangers are built in the same factory as broncos.

And they have back orders for days in the Bronco.

When they switch over for the 24 ranger, I imagine there is going to be some bumps... They are not going to want to take the Bronco line down for long...
