As Phil said, it's for manually locking the doors if the door actuator fails. We are talking about the solenoid/motor that locks/unlocks the doors. Not the fob or door switches.

There is still a key slot on the drivers side door even if you have push button start. Same key unlocks the spare tire.

Lariat with push button start, still has a backup (key blade) within the fob itself, to unlock driver's door and to remove the spare tire access plug. The tailgate keyed slot was deleted
