Well in the last two months USPS has lost three packages I sent out. Tried to get help, filed a claim and was told if you can’t provide pictures and receipts for anything in the packages as proof we cannot process your claim and closed my cases. I have never taken pictures of stuff I have mailed, nor most stuff I didn’t have receipts for. If you send a family item or such where would you get a receipt? It’s crazy I had paid for insurance and listed the contents on the customs form.
Lesson for you all... take photos of it, have something that says it’s value or have a copy of the receipt. Oh and they also refused to refund the $57 in postage I paid for shipping on boxes they lost..... shut this mess down!

It's never going to be perfect. We might get 3 different deliveries from Amazon in a single day. I would think it would be more efficient to send one but I don't have all of the information. The Amazon centers are very large. I don't see them running a package of razor blades across the warehouse just to make the same truck going out for my other stuff.
If I had to guess, I'd say they funnel as much as they can towards zipcodes and sub-zipcodes. It might be a pack of razor blades for me but for them it's a 1 minute stop on the route.
All of the logistics companies are constantly trying to improve their algorithms to improve efficiency. Some bean counter somewhere figured it was cheaper for them to keep it automated as much as possible. I'm not so arrogant to believe that I am smarter than their composite enterprises.

Hey the last time I used USPS to ship a package (and it was/will be the last time ever) - the package was delivered 5 months later with half the contents missing - same result as you experienced got lip service from the USPS.

I will go against the flow here. Although deliveries are not perfect and they sometime take circuitous routes, by far and away I think they are pretty darn good, especially considering the demand for their services has increased dramatically since Covid.

I live in a rural area and no longer have quick access to stores I did when I lived in the big cities. I often receive packages from Amazon two days after I ordered them.

I have had experience with both the US and Canadian Postal Services. When I used to winter in AZ, the people in the post office in Queen Creek were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Here in Canada I have a mailbox at the top of my driveway. Our mail person (a woman) will drive down our driveway and drop off any oversized parcels right to our door.

I have had delays In delivery, which is frustrating, but all in all, they have been very good from my experience.

Wondering if you guys have ever worked for a large company (tens or hundreds of thousands of employees)? I have most of my career and I can tell you, large companies are not good at efficiency and cost savings either. I'm astounded at how much waste I've seen in all the companies I've worked for (except one). I think it has more to do with the size of the organization than whether it is government or private honestly.
Agreed. I work for a Fortune 500 company that is second in the country our industry in terms of size and profits. The amount of waste that occurs is simply staggering to people who aren't use to it. To everyone in the company, it's "normal". The amount of write-offs that occur every year are outrageous.

USPS hasn't delivered mail to my neighborhood all week. But at least they came today! ?‍♂ Plus most of the stuff I am waiting on is stuff I probably didn't need in the first place so I just look at it as karma making me wait for my frivolity.

There's a reason why companies will give such huge rewards to employees that come up with cost saving measures. I think it was Chrysler that used to give the employees half of the savings.

I used to work for a large company that has an initiative to find ways to streamline or save money. They'll spend as much looking to save money as they will saving it. It's just plain nuts.

My fear if USPS is privatized is that then they can pick and choose who gets mail delivered - meaning, if they don't feel an address is profitable, they will just say "we can't deliver mail there" and I don't think that is good for the country. To me, mail is a basic necessity of life, kind of like electricity (and now internet). And if the USPS won't deliver to some addresses, then the other companies won't have any incentive to deliver there either and some people will just be without mail delivery.

For me, USPS has been better than any of the private delivery companies. I'm not saying I've never had issues with them, just less than the others. It is kind of sad honestly - FedEx used to be the gold standard - the "go to" company for delivery - anyone remember the "if it absolutely, positively has to get there overnight" slogan? That used to be true, but it is not any longer -I've had more delivery flubs with FedEx and UPS than I have with the USPS.
I have worked for both Ford and GM and I was always amazed at how cheap it was to buy a car or truck when you consider all the waste.

Ok, I have a right to get mail. I'm standing up for that.
Playing devils advocate, can you point to where it says that in the constitution?

Anyhow, I was just ranting. Im just being bitchy cause I was suppose to some stuff for my truck today I plan to install and like a fat kid told he can't go into the candy shop hulk angry.

Didn't want to turn this into a political argument between forums members.

I recently sent Blackstone an oil sample for analysis using one of their 1st Class Postage Paid mailers. I'm a little over 100 miles from the Blackstone lab. It took over 2 weeks for the package to get there. Granted, that included Thanksgiving, but 2 weeks to go 100 miles is not exactly "1st class." According to the tracking, it got hung up in Indianapolis. I've heard from several local people lately that their packages have seemed to get stuck there.

My local PO indicated that everything is sent up to a central receiving PO center and then shipped out, even cross-town mail, in this case to San Jose which is about 100 miles from where I live, so a cross town mail piece travelling 1 mile has to make a 200 mile round trip first LOL!!!

hahah, mail is a SERVICE, not a RIGHT. Rights are what are listing the Constitution and Amendments (end of civics 101 LOL) and God only gives us the gifts to do what we do to ourselves... like mail SERVICE:LOL:

On a happier note my mailman is awesome. He is an older Asian man and we always chat for a second cause I seem to be forever outside working on my truck (in a good way) on my days off when he comes by and God knows how many packages from Amazon / Elsewhere he delivers to me. Lately he has not been coming through till after the sunsets. Last we spoke I asked why he was still working so late and they said they are running them ragged.

And of course we joked about the sheer volume of political junk mail he delivers (especially bad in GA right now cause of the senate)
