What the hell is wrong with Amazon and/or USPS?

USPS is completely melting down this year. I've got multiple packages en route that they only say are "delayed" and no longer have an eta. Why? Because in order to keep from completely melting down, fedex and ups both stopped accepting packages from a lot of large retailers--forcing those packages onto usps instead. To add insult to injury, Amazon is still using usps for some last mile delivery in addition to having their own private delivery service.

But sure, blame government inefficiency.

USPS should have told them to pound sand too if they couldn't handle their current workload and only accepted health critical shipments after a certain date. People who want to shop last minute better drive to a store or something. If that means me as well, then that is fine.

Sure, just have "we the people" change the governing legislation which forbids usps from discriminating among various customers. The law requires them to accept and deliver mail, but though there are targets for delivery time there are no guarantees.

Its not discrimination if they hault all non critical mail for everyone.

On a happier note my mailman is awesome. He is an older Asian man and we always chat for a second cause I seem to be forever outside working on my truck (in a good way) on my days off when he comes by and God knows how many packages from Amazon / Elsewhere he delivers to me. Lately he has not been coming through till after the sunsets. Last we spoke I asked why he was still working so late and they said they are running them ragged.

And of course we joked about the sheer volume of political junk mail he delivers (especially bad in GA right now cause of the senate)

My mailman is also awesome and lives down the street from me. We chat about cars, politics, latest news and local happenings during the warmer months. I joke about not delivering the junk mail/political ads and he says that's what keeps them working. Some days that's all I get is junk. Really haven't had any issues with USPS, deliveries have been on time or early.
I always ship free or the cheapest method, nothing I'm ordering is that critical. If I need something right now, I go and get it locally.
Now Amazon, glad I don't pay for 2 day delivery because they are all over the place. Free delivery shows up in 2 days usually but in the past when I have paid for prime, it would take 3-5 days for some items. And yes they were prime items. Yesterday they delivered 2 packages to me, one addressed to my neighbor. My neighbor had my second package. Gave my neighbor a call, swapped packages, and had a laugh about it.

Our regular mail lady is fantastic! The folks who work the counter at the local post office...not so much.

I put the mail in the box on my route and was waling away when the door opened and I was invited in for a warm drink and xmas cookies. Well as it turns out I was treated to a very special holiday treat, had that sort of thing happened more often I would have definately considered a career as a mailman, this postman delivered on that cold winter day.

Everybody should be able to admit that the fact that you can put a letter in a box outside of your house and it can go across the country for 55 cents is amazing. I know I am guilty of becoming so impatient that I take too much for granted.

So your solution to people bitching that usps is delivering mail too slowly is for them to stop delivering mail completely. Sure, that makes sense. I'm completely certain that there wouldn't be bitching about that.

People will bitch about anything (raises hand) - but if it unclogged the system a few weeks before the end of the year the bitching level may be less. Who knows. Its never going to happen anyway. /shrug

Sure, if you define "unclog" as "not working at all".

It would be working while they clear the back log. I wonder how much could be unclogged with a 1 day stoppage. Who knows.

Amazon is not the evil in this all the time. BUT, Amazon is undercutting the fees paid to have them deliver. Anyway, I'm in TN and I have had 2 packages stalled weeks for whatever reason not from Amazon. Two different vendors. One in IL and the other in Oh. I already cancelled the one in OH, and disputed the cc charge because the sender doesn't feel like getting involved.

My local office people here are great. But when you send a complaint via the USPS web site, you'd think they'd send it to the root of the problem. In this case, the Cincinnati Distribution Hub which gets non-stop bad reviews even by truck drivers. No, they send it to my local office. When my local contacted me, they said they are missing scans and the hub told them it's 'somewhere on a truck'.... What a crock. It could be on a cargo ship back to Russia for all we know.

The main site reports delays and lack of help because of covid, blah blah. BS... They never prepared for the extra influx of deliveries because of the holidays.
My local guy showed up yesterday and said he's working 7 days a week, 12 hr shifts. As he pulls out of his lot, more trucks are coming in.
Soooo, like always, USPS are so uncoordinated with their logistics, they don't deserve to have the word, 'logic' even in the word. It's unreal how bad over the years, that they are still deteriorating and not getting better.

What's amazing about that? It's actually a lot more than 55 cents when you take into account your tax dollars bailing them out every year.
