What size cargo trailer

Hello everyone, I've been looking for information for a little while, but I'm still not sure. I want to buy a 7 x 12 (6.3 high) v nose, single axle aluminum cargo trailer. I want to turn it into a camper so the weight should not exceed 3000lbs. I wonder if I will push my Ford Ranger (FX4, tow package, 2020) too much (also with wind resistance)? Knowing that I will use it to drive about 2000 miles per year. Or, if I go with a 6 x 12 would it make a big difference? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

7 x 12 cargo trailer weighs what...maybe 1300-1500 lbs. No way will you tax the Ranger's ability to tow a home-made camper made out of it.
You will probably exceed the trailers capacity long before the Ranger's.
3000 lb final weight...you won't even know it's back there. But, you might want to look at a 7 x 12 duel axle trailer......maybe cost more, but more capacity, and easier to tow.

Your ranger will pull that just fine. Many people are towing trailers heavier and more frontal area with no issues. I myself tow a 4000# 9 foot high TT without issue. Just expect your mileage to take a hit.

V nose will definitely cut the air better, but you'll still take a hit on mileage. Possibly less susceptible to wind, and a duel axle will handle much better than a single axle.

Wont even notice it's back there. I towed 6k a few times, obviously it eas slower but rode great. Plenty of merging power too.

I've been designing a conversion along this idea...looking at a quality 6 x 10 or 7 x 12 aluminum slant V-nose toy hauler that double duties as a camper and be able to carry a light trail motorcycle...

Nice TT, we love the fiberglass ones, seems like they'd really hold up well.

And your's is a dual axle, so a larger one. How do you like it?

The V-nose will help cut the air, but you'll still be dragging most of it behind the trailer. I had a 7x14x6.5' tall cargo trailer that I towed with my previous Ram 1500. After a few trips between Wichita Falls and Dallas TX, I added some Air Tab vortex generators on the sides and roof. The transmission approved of them, with less hunting for the right gear (8 speed) and less sway when a semi or RV passed by me. I've mentioned them before and I am personally sold on their effectiveness. I plan on getting another trailer in the future and it will get the same treatment.
