Howdy, kids! Operation Blackout, aka the plastidip saga to make this ranger the meanest looking in Germany continues! Sun is finally out in Germany, so I had perfect conditions for a sweet dippin day!
The original plan was to do just the rear emblem and see how it looks. It pops out super easily so a quick job right? Well the front of course has to look the same... and why not do the entire grill as well?
For anyone trying this, don't let yourself get fooled by the tutorials. Removing the blue part of the emblem is no easy job, at least it wasn't for me. The plastic welds basically WANTED to break, I lost a good soldier in the rear emblem where now there's a hole..
Front emblem wasn't much easier. I decided to remove the entire grill, since the nuts couldn't be easily reached. Also fuck those nuts. Not even nuts, just some sort of washer with a thread, totally rusted after just one winter.
Anyways, removing the Euro grill ain't that straight forward either. I broke of two clips, luckily in non important spots but this ain't a quick job.
Getting back to plastidip, it might have been the fumes or my love for matte black, after having the entire front disassembled, I decided to dip the grill and front emblem as well. I am SO happy with how it came out. The emblems with the silver Ford letters and the black look dope, I honestly think the grill should be matte from the factory.
Let me know what you think. For anyone wondering, I used one entire can on both emblems and the grill.
