There's a few small (very small) pull outs along the road because it's very narrow and winding. When you're on the inside you're almost right up against the rocks in some corners. I was trying to get Annie to open the window and take pictures but she wasn't having any of that. ?

Even though it was cloudy there's some really cool sights to see on the way up. There's also a ton of waterfalls coming off the mountain on almost every turn. With all the snow melt and rain they're all running pretty hard right now.

I'm sure this is really nice watching the sunset between the peaks.

This waterfall was really cool. It flows down under the road and out the hole you see coming up to it.

As you go around the bend you can look right up the mountain at this one. We were there so early the road was pretty empty which was nice.

This one you could walk right up and get under the waterfall. Some were doing it but it was super windy at this point and I just grabbed a few pics from the pull off area.

This is similar to the previous one where it runs under the road and pours out the other side.

The road winds a long way around and there's several more you can see down below the road as you're approaching the corner.

I caught the wind whipping and spouting the top this one at the right moment.

When we got to the top at Logans Pass it was 38* and raining and sleeting. To bad because there was some really nice views up there.

Reminds me of going to Lake Tahoe in the later 50's/early 60's...highway 50 getting up/over Echo Summit. :surprised:?

Wow, you got an undercover sneak preview of the new echo friendly Toyota Land Cruiser - EcoLogma for 2025 :like: only a whisper-rumor until now!

Best trip ever.

There's a few tunnels along the way up and down the other side after Logans Pass. We went a few miles more than turned around just past the Jackson Glacier Overlook. It was pouring by then and we were still a ways from the end at the St Mary entrance on the east side.

Here's the weather this morning at 4:35, boy were they wrong and it changed fast. lol

We were spoiled last year with only 1 day of rain out of 30 so I guess mother nature is making up for it on this one.

The road to Mt Evans we were on last June was much worse. It was a lot narrower and no rocks or rails on the edges all the way to the top. o_O

After the falls you can make your way up to the Aster Falls Viewpoint. The view was pretty nice up there and you can see Two Medicine Lake and the mountains.

These are growing all over the place and I have no idea what they're called. It grows on a long skinny stem and blossoms.

Another interesting feature about the iPhone 14 pro camera is that it will identify plants.

Bob @Bob902 how long do you realistically need at Devils Tower? We're leaving Billings, MT Friday morning and stopping at the Little Bighorn Battlefield which is on our way out. I'm not sure how long we'll be there (I know I gotta keep Annie out for the gift shop) but I was thinking of stopping at Devils Tower on our way into SD. I'm guessing I'll be leaving the the LBB around 11:00 am and it's 3.5 hours to DT so an ETA of around 2:30pm.

Is a couple hours enough time or do you really need the whole day? I was just trying to do it on the way there instead of going back another day from SD but I'm just not sure I'll have time to enjoy it without rushing. What say you? lol

There are three trails. The first goes around the base and can be done in about an hour. The other two connect and go farther out. If I did it again, I would probably just do the trail at the base. Also, parking there was horrendous last year. We ended up having to park down by the prairie dog town and hike up. The hike up will connect you to the two outer trails. If you go to the right when you reach the trail, it takes you the long way around. Go left and it isn’t far to the base of the tower. It is pretty fascinating and I would go back if I have the chance.
