Hey everyone…
Owner of a 2014 Ford Ranger (T6). As the title says, I have an odd starting problem that I hope you guys can help me solve.
Every once in a while, my truck will refuse to start.
I place the key in the ignition and when you turn it into the first notch (this is when all the dash lights should appear), but nothing appears.
The odometer stays on, however.
When turning it to the second notch (actually trying to start the truck), there is no cranking, no sound, not even a click. Here, the odometer goes off.
Nothing electrical works, except the hazard lights and the radio.
The fix for this problem is actually simple, albeit inconvenient - remove the negative battery terminal and reconnect it back - and it starts up fine!
Any idea why this happens? It’s happened about 3 times this year.
Initially I thought it was a battery problem… but it’s not (that’s how I accidentally figured out the negative battery terminal fix for it).
Has anyone had a similar problem?
