A lot of people mad at tesla that found out their EVs won't take a charge at 20 below the last couple days. The range goes down to 50 miles at that temp also from videos popping up. Definitely not for cold climates with all the aluminum that acts as heatsinks.

Tell that to the Norwegians who happen to drive a whole lot of teslas, last time I was in Norway albeit 20 yrs back in the winter it was dark and definitely cold, but perhaps global warming has changed that, oh wait I forgot global warming is a made up conspiracy. I also heard a lot of people weren't happy when the storm caused power outages and they couldnt heat their homes and mostdon't even own teslas. Wait did tesla also cause those outages like renewable energy sources did in Texas when their grid failed

I've known plenty of people that bought (finance, actually) a $60k+ EV to 'save money on gas'. :D
From your statement, those "plenty of people" were going to buy a vehicle in the $60k+ range, anyway. Aren't they saving money on gas by not buying any?

Twitter has gone ballistic now that Musk owns it. The grids are failing because of heavy demand by all the servers. We have global warming because of all the EVs and green energy. We've taken so much pollution out of the atmosphere that we have too much sunshine. Never trust air that you can't see.

They weren't. Stupid argument.

In NYC, folks in older buildings typically don't own cars; ICE or otherwise. Parking can cost half again or more as rent for an older, no frills small apartment. My aunt and uncle lived in a high rise back in early 1963, and an unsecured spot in an outdoor lot for their 1961 VW was $63 a month; $612.93 in todays dollars. As you drive thru most any American lower income neighborhood, you very seldom see a current or 1-2 year-old vehicle; most are 2013-14 or older. A lack of charging is pretty low priority for these folks, except maybe for a used 12v battery or alternator for the Pontiac.
We will have ICE in some form through 2035 and beyond, when CA mandates all vehicles sold there must be BEV, HEV or PHEV; the latter two not needing external charging, and having an ICE included. Furthermore, the last 2034 ICE-only Belchfire Extremo will run another 12-15 years, eventually being sold down to the lowest common consumer living in Budget Town. By then, 2050+, BEVs will be more commonplace, mandated or not, and (very) used ones will be affordable to the monthly rent crowd, and 25 years of progress will have chargers at least as commonplace as gas pumps.
I used to believe stuff like this, 25 years of progress right. But we have to reverse engineer the B2 bomber we built in the 80s and hit takes four tries to get a space rocket off the pad now. Who knows what 2050+ is gonna be like.

Auto mags no different than any other mags (with the possible exception of outside) most are struggling , so motor trend possibly fell victim to the rapidly growing EV conspiracy and has sold out. Bezos bought the Washington Post, it's not inconceivably that Elon Musk has taken control of Motor Trend , certainly a lower cost acquisition than that of Twitter.

no but psilocybin mushrooms will be legal in CO in a few days including home grown, better use of the premises and that tin foil maybe be needed in EV battery production.

Long arcticle based on surveys conducted by KPMG - reflecting some changing opinions in the auto industry re EV adoption, seems optimism has been dampened by economic uncertainty in 2023 and skepticism around supply chains ability to achieve level of domestic production for consumers to use incentives. As numerous folks on here have pointed out - take away incentives and EVs are a long way from cost competitive. Many billions have been invested in EV and EV related companies, but if Tesla stock is a bell weather - 2023 could be a less than stellar year for the EV market. Also a positive review about the Maverick on the site.

Another article on Tesla sales and speculates a correlation between Elon Musk Twitter acquisition and drop in Tesla sales, something that never entered my thought process, I wonder if it works in reverse as in someone will buy a Ford since the cab guy was replaced by a car guy.
For those who have in the past expressed dislike of Elon Musk - seems like his Twitter acquisition and other behaviors could well be impacting Tesla sales, but many think it has to do more with increased competition and slackening demand in the EV market.

Jason @yamahaSHO mentioned earlier the cost of EV's. This is a good article showing the difference between two lower priced vehicles one being ICE and the other EV.

Spoiler the EV will cost you much more to own. Trust me I'm "all for saving the planet" but I'm also "all for saving my wallet" more. I'm sure many out there feel the same and $13,000 isn't chump change.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/5-hidden-costs-electric-vehicles-120044343.html

When all is said and done, the bottom line is a $13,000 price difference unless you keep your EV for nearly three times the typical ownership period.

Totaling all factors in, an EV will set you back $71,770,” Fix said. “A gas-powered car? $58,664. You will never make up the initial expense difference over the lifetime of your more expensive electric vehicle. Put another way, a gas-powered car will cost you $600 more a year to drive. But over an average of six years of owning an EV versus a gas car, the EV will set you back $13,000 more.
