CVN 76 USS Ronald Reagan
We used to do RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) exercises involving other nations. Always was a great experience. I’m sure there a few subs floating around down under in these pictures. I was always down in the engine room but I remember getting up once to see this from the ship. It always amazed me how far apart the ships actually really are in these pictures. I’ll never forget stopping the main turbines (engines) with astern steam while still shutting down on the ahead throttles or my first time inside the reactor compartment. You see some interesting stuff in the military you never get to see anywhere else. I can definitely say that.
I grew up near Carswell AFB. I would climb up to my roof and watch the air shows.i may have said this before but i grew up near dyess and carswell when sac was alive and well. id watch the buffs and lancers come in and out all the time. loved it. i felt damn safe every time one of them went over head. i was not airforce but my dad and three uncles were. tac and mac guys. all of them had a great appreciation for the sac folks.

Were you LE or SS? I was SS. They started recombining them to form security forces as I was getting out.SP from 87 to 91.

I'm guessing the LE grass wasn't greener.Started ss, then cross trained to me for about a year then went back to ss.
It was fine and part of my plan for my future, but I just had too much fun with the M60?I'm guessing the LE grass wasn't greener.
M60 was fun until time to carry it. M60 assistant gunner position sucked. I froze a few nights in Germany as gunner sitting in the turret of the hummer overlooking front gate after Desert Storm started. It was fine and part of my plan for my future, but I just had too much fun with the M60?
SP/LE 1978-1984Were you LE or SS? I was SS. They started recombining them to form security forces as I was getting out.
