It was fine and part of my plan for my future, but I just had too much fun with the M60?
You can't have too much fun with a M60! (USN Rifle and Pistol team 1968). When it comes to fun and money, "Some is good, More is better, And too much is just enough".

Retired, work is a four letter word.
So I have had some fun the last few months navigating the PACT act with the Toxic exposure/Burn Pit clause. Finally got a determination on my Hypertension issues, and it seems it will be added to my disability. Took 3 visits to a contract Doctor and a lot of medical record checks back 15 years but they approved my claim. I urge anyone exposed the these conditions to check into it. I was lucky as I still had photos of me in a Jeep on Hwy 1 in the central highlands with a plane spraying Agent Orange in the background. You can start the ball rolling by filing a claim online at VA.GOV.

the younger bucks would make the same joke about molly (mollee/ mole/ molle) or how ever its spelled.
I had an old alice style pack, the smaller "butt bag" that attached to the larger pack. anyways got it real dirty and decided to empty it out and toss it in the washing machine. (stupid move) it shrunk up so damn small that it seemed like a joke or prank. barely fit a coke can in it after that.

One of the things I miss the most was going to the military surplus store in our town with my dad. They always had such cool stuff there. I’m going to look to see if there is one out in my area now. I bet my kids would love it. I loved the musty smell in that place. It was all just so perfect. I always found something to have my dad buy me. Every time we went hiking we would bring belted canteens with us and wear BDU’s. It was really cool to see to older military stuff. As bad as it sounds, there is such a beauty in all that stuff. It represents a very different time(s) and there is just something so specific about that those earlier time periods that I really think is great. I used to set up marathons of older military war movies, submarine movies, and westerns. There’s something very special about each of those genres in our history. Some things are just so perfect. Then again, I was born years too late.

Not saying the new stuff isn’t better and more functional than what I had, but I will always have a special place in my heart for all my Cold War gear and experience.

When I go visit my dad I still take my ALICE pack. When staying longer I would take a duffle bag. Every time he complains saying stuff like "Why do you carry that old thing?" " I'm going to buy you real luggage" etc etc s if ALICE packs are just junk. I just say don't bother cause I won't use it. He was never military or LEO and doesn't understand it.
