Yeah, almost $3k more than I paid for my brand new fully loaded Lariat back in April. Maybe the engine cover, rocker panel plugs, 2 more bed tie-downs, rear door smart entry and the painted rear handle are just worth the extra cost. ?

This also looks lifted? and maybe bigger tires/aftermarket wheels?

I am always leary of pre-modded vehicles, you never know what was done and by who and what was done right and what was done half-assed.

yet, every garage tree mechanic on here who mods their own, claims some sort of superiority in their mechanical skills than certified mechanics....how does that work?
Not all, but many "certified" mechanics are under a time constraint and take shortcuts.

I remember doing the timing belt on my purchased new SUV when it came due the second time around.

Found that the "certified" mechanics that did it the first time had stripped out a couple of the bolts holding some of the brackets on.

Depending on what needs to be done I'll do it myself. That way I know exactly who to blame if it gets screwed up.

There are plenty of good mechanics - but there are plenty of bad ones. I have seen and done enough sketchy repairs in my time to know what is possible.

:p Probably the type that uses an impact gun on the splined anti-theft lug nuts and wonders why they are always crap.

I found this 2019 Lariat FX4 with 16,000 miles on it. That price ($43k) is still pushing it. Still cheaper than $65k though. Lol

I traded in my Colorado and this dealership is trying to sell it for more than the MSRP when it was new:LOL:

These crazy prices and my nephew's truck being stolen two weeks ago had me thinking about insurance coverage and compensation. I called my State Farm agent with these questions:

Q: How do you calculate the reimbursement amount if my truck gets totaled or stolen?
A: It is based on Blue Book value less depreciation.

Q: It is possible to get less than expected when used car prices are fluctuating so much?
A: Depends on Blue Book, the formula doesn't change, so yes.

Q: Can I add extra coverage that will cover for these fluctuations plus all the mods I have added to my truck?
A: Yes. Send me pictures of your truck with the additional mods and receipts.

Q: What's the cost for the additional coverage?
A: No extra charges.

Q: Whattttttt???, no cost for the extra coverage???
A: Since we now have a record of your added mods, they will be covered.

I currently have about 7K in mods over what I paid for my Ranger. So with that, I would recommend you contact your agent and ask how to get extra coverage for all your extra mods. I'm certain each insurance company will have different policies and answers, but hopefully they will give you similar options for your Ranger!

Almost makes me wonder if they might also use some mods to deny claims. Regardless of that (and I'm sure it depends on the mods & me just being cynical), when my agent said they pay the replacement value, I simply assumed she meant the amount it would take to replace it. But when used prices fluctuate far above Kelly Blue Book, it sounds like their payout won't even cover replacement. Thanks for posting this, I'm going to review my policy with my agent.

Thanks for the heads up to the readers of this forum. I have been an agent for 26 years, for a different national company. Most insurance companies do not use Blue Book, there is another industry based valuation tool, in a market like this companies will also look at “comps” selling at local dealers. Mods can be covered, but not for free. This answer makes no sense at all. More customization risk means more premium. Like you said each reader should contact their own agent for specifics.

Yeah, I thought it was too good to be true too, but I confirmed this twice in email (have a record of it). I've been with State Farm for a longgggg time and also cover my home with them (have extra coverage I pay extra for with it), so maybe that is a factor.

Captive agents for National companies are almost always 1099 subcontractors, not employees, therefore contractually the policy is between you and State Farm, the emails are great, but an agent has no legal authority to change a contract. Just to be safe, I would email the agent your receipts for the mods so there is a record of what you spent. One nuance that might be at play here is when a car is totaled and the insured recently spent money on new tires (stock), an AC unit, even a new rebuilt engine, if older, the insurance companies will adjust the amount offered, this does not include mods which are enhancements and should be charged for as a matter of common sense. I have nothing but respect for State Farm and would represent them if not with my current company. I can’t believe they would leave money on the table and not charge for mods which can run in the tens of thousands potentially in the event of a loss. I would venture to guess all other companies charge for mods, be curious as to others experience.

Thanks for chiming in! And yes, they asked me to send them receipts and pics, and I did. If I add other mods with significant pricing, I'll send them those too. I was prepared to pay more for additional coverage (like I do on my home policy), but this is all they said they needed.

I get they are independent agents. Who knows if it will actually pay off if something happens, but at least I have addressed it with my agent and I (and they) have a record of it.

I paid $26,000 for my 2019 STX 4x4 Screw 2 years ago. It has 32,000 miles on it now.
KBB says trade in is $31,367. Nuts.
