It does work very well , almost golf cart like , and I got to controlling it pretty well with the brake , but I drive in tow mode so its off anyway , but that one day (made a thread , best not to go there) it was auto stopping in tow mode , just that one day.FWIW, I have never turned mine off. So far, it doesn't bother me.
This is my 3rd vehicle in a row with Auto Start / Stop. I had two consecutive Volvos (a V60 and an XC60) that both had this feature prior to buying my Tremor.
What I can tell you is that the Ranger is the best version of the 3 that I experienced. The V60 so rarely shut off that it startled me when it did. Living in Texas, you run A/C or heat almost year round with no in-between, so every now and then you'd get one day where it wasn't either too hot or too cold where the car didn't need to run the heater or the A/C non-stop, and the V60 ASS would kick in. The XC60 did it more often, but still pretty rarely, more like once a week.
Both of these vehicles did not seem "ready to drive" very fast after ASS, but the Ranger is ready to go by the time I have lifted my foot off of the brake and onto the gas pedal. And the Ranger has better low end torque, so it takes off like a champ. I always felt like the Volvos needed time for the turbos to spool up to really accelerate and it felt like ASS slowed that process when taking off from a stop.
