Gents,
Just bought a New/Used Ranger XLT Supercrew with the (come to find out) terrible FX4 suspension. So far I enjoy the truck. Drives nice, drives straight, gets better gas mileage than my previous 08 tacoma and boy is this thing faster!

Been shooting a bit getting ready for this upcoming big game season and boy does the rear end ride like s**t once it touches dirt. I knew there would be a lack of suspension coming from a mid travel tacoma with 2.5 COs and an OME leaf pack, but the Ranger feels like I am riding in a horse drawn carriage. Substantially worse than I expected.

With this being said, I have been doing a bit of research into upgrading suspension. Fox 2.0s are not a bad option for me, but I found a guy on facebook Marketplace selling his Tremor take offs. Front and rear for 600 bones...
Very tempting, but I have some concerns:

With the different leaf packs on the tremors, will the rear shock pair well at all with the single leaf design on my truck?
Will the struts level my truck or put me just under level? (once again, 2020 XLT FX4)
If someone has a Tremor, some measurements from fender to center of hub would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance new family (TacomaWorld no longer...).

You cannot adjust the fronts you can only put a spacer on top to get level. It will have a 1” take I believe. The Tremor leaf pack is much better. At $600 it’s definitely better than what you got and I would expect it to be fine with the mono leaf but I would probably put that money to better use in getting the suspension you want. I have the Eibach Pro Truck 2.0R and just the shocks in the rear were a huge improvement.

To go with what SDXLT said. Changing rear shocks is the best bang for the buck suspension improvement in my opinion. It makes a huge difference. I went with Bilstein shocks. Honestly there probably isn’t much of a difference between Eibach, Bilstein, Old Man Emu or the other premium brands ride wise. Bilsteins were cheaper was my deciding factor lol.

Thank you for your input.
I landed on that option today as well. Eibach is a decent option, but seems pretty pricey for what you get. For only about $100 more you have the Fox 2.0 that seems to be the way to go and rebuildable. Thoughts?

Sounds like you already know what it's like with Old Man EMU. My suggestion is to stick with just that. Still a practical suspension kit for the Ranger

I don’t think you can go wrong with either, or Bilstein. I think the key is that you stick with a brand front and rear. So if Fox is what you like go for it! I saw a good vid on YouTube that the Eibach kit with the rear reservoir was better in off road performance than the fox as the latter was too soft. I had already gotten the Eibach kit on offer up so was glad I lucked out in that regard but I was looking at the Fox too. Check out @Benny who is with http://levittownfordparts.com/ if you want the Fox. I think you can get a good deal. Also, stage3 is doing a Cinco de Mayo sale tomorrow and you might get one of the kits for 15% off.

The Bilsteins 5100 have a lifetime warranty I believe. I run them on my FX4 set at 1.2". You can go 2.5 but i wouldn't recommend it. No rebuilds necessary. I put over 140K on a set on a Frontier 4x4 and never had an issue.

If you are getting the full Tremor suspension (shocks/struts + rear leaf springs) that is a steal.

If that price doesn't include the rear leafs I'd pass.

Yes, the Fox shocks are rebuildable at a cost of about $80 per shock for the parts I believe.

I went with Bilsteins as the thought of pulling the front end apart every 30-50k to rebuild the fronts was not on my list of Things I Like To Do.

That said, I have the Bilsteins front and rear paired with Tremor leafs and I am 100% satisfied with my suspension.
