This is the label off the transmission i paid for last night. Seller claims it's from a 2023. According to my understanding it's a 2020 build date.

Remember that the ranger is a mass produced vehicle. It's very possible Ford had a stockpile transmission ready for production and it took a little bit to get through that stockpile.

Hard to see but to me these don't look like the same transmission. The one on the left is from the ad. On the right is what he is sending me, which looks dirty.

You are correct. That transmission was built in 2020. 357th day. For example my replacement transmission installed in July of 2024 had a date code of 24156.

The 2023 transmission should also have the part number NB3P7000EA on the tag not the KB3P7000RD. Along with a date code starting with around 22230 or higher
Yeah that's what I told him. My tag has the kb3p #. I told him to cancel it ASAP. He said he would but it hasn't happened yet. It's through ebay and I paid with PayPal so I'm covered.

I transmission hunt continues.... It's going to sting but I might have to just buy new.

The RD is the key here - you have an original build date - (Date Code) and somewhere in it’s history, was pulled from a Ranger and sent back - then Rebuilt- Ford uses various(-) RM - RD or simply Reman to indicate it’s a rebuild - now for this specific transmission I do not know if this has the updated CDF drum parts - if indeed this came from a 2023 it’s most likely going to be the updated parts.

I don’t think it’s a reman. See attached production codes used by auto scrap industry. If the R meant a reman there would be one for the 4x4’s also
Edit: The part numbers for Ford reman transmissions end in “RM”. Example KB3P7000ARM

Ok I am going to rescind my last post about the RD - possibly Rear Drive , anyway something does not appear correct with the tag - either the information we have about the data tag is incorrect or this transmission is not from a 2023 - Good Call on cancelling the order (if there is any doubt) especially due to what it actually means

Have you tried a local transmission shop to see if they have done any and would they be interested ? That sounds better than Ebay to me...

There are a few shops here that rebuild transmissions. I guess I'll look into it and see what they offer.

I would, and just flat out ask if they have done many, and how they turned out and such... worth a shot imo...

I have to ask if you are having an issue with the transmission. If so why not just get a new or reman from Ford?
