ya dam kids with your horns blowing and your baggy tight pants when I was i kid, if I wanted to blow a horn I had to kill a ram and make a horn out of its horn and then I could blow a horn and what's with these internets? are they for catch fish?

I AM a grumpy old man that doesn't like to be blasted by a train horn. I don't find it at all amusing, or cool, anywhere except on a train.

Back in January I noticed a lady backing out of a driveway towards my truck. I laid on my stock horn to no avail. She said she didn’t hear me and hit the side of my truck and did this.

So now I am getting a train horn.

Well the original question was related to where to mount said horn arrangement, not whether said horns should be mounted at all, therefore I vote the OP mount said horns on the roof of his alleged Ranger, after all if you want to sound like a train I think you need to start looking like one......

There is a guy that comes to visit a neighbor that has train horns on a jacked up 4x4 that just has to honk twice every time when leaving. I jump out of the couch every time. I hate that guy.

Next time he leaves your neighbor's house, follow him home. Take note of address and return at 2 a.m. Proceed to blast Ranger horn for roughly 60 seconds. It doesn't take a train horn to wake an entire family.

All of these "if only I had a louder horn" complaints assume that the louder horn would've actually prevented anything. In most cases I'd say that's not likely. The problem with a horn or other attention getting device is that it requires the person to notice it, process it, decide if it is directed at them or not, decide how to react, and then react. In all reality, that whole process is likely not going to happen in that second or two.

And in all honesty, there's so many dicks out there blowing their horns that my first reaction to hearing a horn is not "what did I do wrong", its "what is this asshole complaining about now". And I'm usually right.

I've been cutoff, almost hit, stuck at a light, etc. plenty of times, never used my horn, because it wouldn't have mattered. I usually just give them a polite wave to say "I forgive you for your mistake".

The best way to avoid an accident is defensive driving, attentiveness, and spatial awareness.

That crap is about as stupid as those guys with older V8 trucks/suvs that run straight pipes.

All that noise to go no where fast. They will floor it making the world think Godzilla is upon them, you look over, and it looks like its going as fast as an econo-shitbox at 20mph in 6th gear.

the factory horns on some cars and trucks is rather anemic these days. on older trucks ive had they almost all came with two horns from the factory. they were not overly loud but did have a tone that got attention. id like to have a horn that was similar to the older ones. i dont have a problem with "train horns" on cars and trucks if they are used in the correct manor. the horns are supposed to warn or bring attention to something on the roadway. on the water horns are a great communication. but to use it as a joke or to be funny is summers eve style...no one likes a douche bag lol.
