Hi everyone,
I have had the same tires and factory wheels for 2 yrs now with no problem. The TPMS sensor fault always comes up now.
The gauge on the dash and Ford Pass app is showing ( -- ) for the front left wheel
I have tried training the sensors by lowering the tire pressure until the horn beeps. Starting at the left front, the horn will sound for the left front but not the right front. The right front always fails
I bought the training reset tool and tried it. The left front beeps, but not the RIGHT front
I have rotated the tires 3 or 4 times and have driven it numerous miles in between to make sure it is not the sensor in the tire
In summary, the dash gauge and Ford Pass always shows -- for the Left front, but the Right front will not train. Anyone have any ideas what to do next?

Yes but, where is the sensor located? The BCM? or is there a dedicated TPMS module?

I have not changed any electronics and I unplugged all USB cords. Antennae is tight. This has been going on now about 6 months.
It started right after the truck was parked for about 2 months. The 12v battery is charged although it did get weak while parked

I would guess the TPMS device inside the wheel has a dead/weak battery. My 2009 Mariner has displayed the TPMS fault for several years now. The dealer Service Dept did a scan for another problem and left rear dead sensor also showed up.

It's part of the tire air stem...probably battery gone bad on this sensor...

As far as I know, the truck only knows the sensors, not which position that they are in. If this is the case, the bad sensor will still show at the same location when rotating the tires until the retraining process is completed. Since the retraining won't complete, it still is detecting a bad TPMS sensor at the same location, even if the tire is moved. Others have said that the truck automatically relearns the sensor positions, but the owner's manual says otherwise.

I have rotated all the tires in every position in the last 6 months while driving over a week to a month in between. No matter which tire I put on the right front, that corner will not train (re-learn) while the dash gauge and Ford Pass is not showing a PSI for the LEFT front (--)

Using your TPMS tool, find out which sensor doesn't respond and have it replaced. Then retrain the truck's TPMS system with 4 good TPMS sensors.

If I remember correctly, there is a small antenna / receiver at each wheel. My sensors know which location they’re in. Mice are a big problem with modern electronics systems so you may have a wire that’s been severed. I’m on my phone, so responses are short and simple.

If the problem is always in the same location, it’s most likely not going to be the sensor in the wheel.

In the 2019 Ranger there is an RTM (Radio Transceiver Module) located under the roof, so only one antenna. I don't know what newer models have.

I believe that the OP has a bad TPMS sensor in one of his tires. His TPMS programming tool should be able to find which wheel has the bad sensor.

His symptoms are location dependent, making me thing it’s not the sensor. My truck knows which tire is in which location. If I lower my RR pressure and move the wheel, it will change on my dash. Since the error doesn’t follow the wheel, it shouldn’t be a sensor. Without being at the truck, I can’t diagnose in person but… a sensor should show errors in different locations as it moves.

There is only one transceiver with a built-in antenna, so it would have to be a bad TPMS sensor in one wheel.

Here is the TPMS block diagram from the shop manual:

RTM is the radio transceiver module.
