Hey guys .. Xlt sport here...no tow package came on my truck. I have the sway control button....I want to get it so I can tow with the max 7500...my question is should info thru ford? I want to tow a camper ....so should I just maybe go get one Installed elsewhere ? Would that be cheaper or is the Ford expensive? I need some direction.....my sales guy told me my 42000 points would roughly pay for half of it at the dealer?

No difference, just a Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver . But to pull the max weight, you will also need to install a Trailer Brake Controller if the towed trailer has electric brakes. That could be ~$400 if you install it yourself. Look up here to see what's involved.

Buy the hitch receiver and install it yourself to save on labor. Its as easy of a 5 minute job as changing wiper blades. All you need is an impact, two C-clamps, and a torque wrench. Then if you do not feel comfortable doing wiring have someone else do it. Also might want to look into a weight distributing setup if you are looking to get near capacity.

Lots of threads here on this. An aftermarket hitch is fine if you want to do it yourself and don't mind the hitch being lower than the OEM hitch. You already have a 4-pin connection for lights so your set for a small trailer without brakes or one that has surge brakes like most Uhauls. If you need a 7-pin connector for electric brakes or 12v+ to charge a trailer battery, I recommend getting the factory parts installed. It will plug into the factory harness and save having to run wires the length of the truck. If you plan on towing big regularly I reccomend getting the Ford TBC installed as it ties into all the trucks safety systems. Occasional towing a Curt Echo brake controller is fine, just remember the 12v+ on the truck does not come on until the truck sees the trailer plugged in and the truck is running

As I said lot's of other threads on all these items with good info. Just be sure you know and understand how your setup works especially if you are using a WDH. Setup up with then is critical. Safe towing.
