Has anyone run into this issue? The 2023 Ranger bed side rails and tailgate top are higher than the bed rail at the cab. By well over an inch. So there is a large gap because the tonneau gasket doesn’t sit on the lower cab rail section. Am I missing something here? Got the Gator hard cover Tri-fold which says it fits the 23. The gasket is built in. Doesn’t come close. Of course this will allow water in.

it is normal, although odd design choice. That part of the bed is called the bulkhead.

I used 1" open cell foam for my application, but I suggest you use 3/4" closed cell foam seal, and double them up.

Works well.

Not that way on 2021 Lariat. I had no issues with my tonno fitting

Thanks. Exactly what I looked at today at Home Depot. Shouldn’t have to though. If that’s the way the 23s are Tonneau companies should be including a thicker gasket on the bulkhead end.

My 22 Tremor is that way. Had purchased a Gator soft tri fold and it came with the proper foam seal. Then went with the Truxedo LoPro soft roll up and that also had the proper foam seal.

Here’s the instructions that came with the Gator soft trifold. Along with the extra foam seal

I would suggest purchasing a tailgate seal kit. You will need this anyway to keep road spray from making its way in the bed around the adges of teh tailgate. There will be extra sealing material that you can use to fill in the gaps at the bulkhead. I had to do the same.

I don’t have a Gator hard cover but have a Bakflip MX4. The one seal it came with was too short to use with the drop in liner and the seal for a bed with no liner was too thick. So I got some 3/4” rubber gasket the truck accessory shop used for installing canopies and it was the perfect fit for that gap. Just my experience.
