looks like some oil in the TB pics do you have a catch can?

Agree with you and I noted that around the gasket as well. I also noted it while cleaning the MAP a couple of days ago. Catch can is definitely on the list nowlooks like some oil in the TB pics do you have a catch can?
Man I’m trying to get to the bottom of the throttle body and there’s like no room to work in here with a ratchet. Should I remove the part of the intercooler circled in red for more room?Yes that's exactly right—no need to remove the intercooler hose at all, just loosen the clamp and pull it away from the body, then it's free to nudge upwards and downwards depending on which 8mm bolts you are trying to remove.
Yes that clip felt like a beast until I finally spotted the secondary tab. It is very tiny. Would definitely recommend a headlamp while working in this area of the engine bay in general.
Best of luck!
Agreed, there's no room for a ratchet if you simply loosen the clamp for the intercooler hose and nudge it up or down, that's why I had to use a screwdriver with 8mm attachment. It was honestly pretty easy doing it that way. If you really want to use a ratchet and get the hose out of the way, I would more aggressively bend the hose out of the way rather than loosen it from that connector as you suggestMan I’m trying to get to the bottom of the throttle body and there’s like no room to work in here with a ratchet. I just want to get the hose out of the way so i have room to work![]()
That's my understanding -- more than anything I wanted to disconnect the battery for safety purposes, but disconnecting the battery also provides an opportunity to initiate the idle relearn processSo if you disconnect the battery to remove/clean the TB, then this will also clear the memory so it can do the relearn?
I did this mostly out of curiosity given that my truck is over 100k miles and ive never cleaned a throttle body before. I want to learn how to work on my own cars so I figure this is a good opportunity to learn something new and maybe improve shifting and mpgs. It was quite dirty as you can tell and draining the pcm in the battery from what I gather is helpful just like every once in a while its a good idea to power cycle your computer or phone.Other than making yourself feel better what did it accomplish?

Well done -- yeah it's a tight space for sure.I did this mostly out of curiosity given that my truck is over 100k miles and ive never cleaned a throttle body before. Thanks man, I'm not very mechanically inclined so its been quite the learning process so far but its nice to have you guys on the forum for advice or I wouldn't have done half of these things so far! Here's my digital high-five for getting your hands dirty and learning hands-on. With every job - more confidence!
Thanks a bunch, your how-to came in handy I had it pulled up on my phone while I was working on it. Haha no click bait here just trying to learn my way around the truck.Well done -- yeah it's a tight space for sure.
And you mean to tell me you didn't just go through that whole process just for clicks and views and pats on the back? Folks can be unnecessarily rude sometimes
My TB wasn't shipped today as it was supposed towhich means my truck is potentially out of commission until Tuesday...currently debating whether to put my old one back on in the interim, but then I'd just have to go through all of the hassle of removing it again...
Hi all, I'm looking at an evil energy catch can for my 2024 Ranger. I learned my lesson with another vehicle that had a GDI engine that a catch can is a very good idea. Does anyone know if the hose size on the 2.3L is a 3/8" or 5/8" ? TIAlooks like some oil in the TB pics do you have a catch can?
