Not sure if this is the official "tin can door" thread but I'll start here. I too have the dreaded front doors and agree the rear doors are less of a problem. So Dynamat or similar is on the docket soon, but I want to wrap the interior mods in a single bash. It seems door speaker replacements even for the B&O are getting great reviews. And a factory trailer brake controller is necessary, though I haven't enough research to know how much if any its installation will affect the interior.

Set aside my fear of the lighting tube thingy, what I'll never be able to live with is sloppy door panel fasteners. The 5G panels are held on with a combination of screws and barbed plastic push pins yes? Call me crazy but I'll have to replace any push pin, screw insert, or other fastener weakened by removal. Anal I get it.....humor me. Metal panel nuts are reusable in my book. Anything nonmetallic is not. Even though most or all of you have likely had no reassembly issues.

Unless someone has documented the fasteners I guess I'll have to trust the Dealer to tell me how many replacement fasteners are necessary. Online diagrams have burned me before.

Anybody?
It's really a pretty simple job. YouTube videos and take your time. Even my caveman self did it without any problems. It does make a difference.

Hi Folks,

Believe it or not, door slam sound and feel are part of our evaluation process. In the past we have have what is called Door ring, a sort of tinny sound. It was flagged and fixed. So who ever approved the Ranger had to evaluate this and sign off that it was acceptable. Likely driven by containing their budget so they get their bonus. Putting $ ahead of the customer. It is very disappointing as I also think the door closing sound is less than satisfactory. Fortunately the Jerk that did the sign offs was forced into retirement end of 2022.

I hope the new person puts the customer before his/her $

Best,
Phil

Name please...this person deserves to be famous, Phil...

Personally, I don't have issues except when a door is shut when another is open...then there's not enough damping...since I always drive with windows up and mostly alone when driving, when I close my door, it's a very nice solid "thud"...

Hi Phil,
I don’t think it’s an important issue, but certainly is an off off putting issue for many here, I don’t give a shit, this is still a great truck by any stretch of the imagination… my wife niggles me about the sound but still says my Ranger is a better ride over her exalted Maverick!!! ?. I come from an f150 and have to agree…

Old post I know.

So apparently I'm not the only one noticing the door issue. I have a 2020 ranger. All of my doors sound good except for the driver door. Every time I close it it sounds tinny and is embarrassing. I think I'm going to look into adding some damping material. Seems like one of those things that the dealer would act like they didn't notice. Sounds good to me.
