How this is possible in a state like Georgia (rednecks/truck ownership ratio) - but apparently if I want to spend a few bucks, I can get the prestige custom plate "ZR2" as it is currently not claimed.

Hmmm. LOL

Maybe it was just too hard for them to spell.
Count your blessings!

Got the trailer lights installed this morning. These function as low power running lights, higher power brake lights, and sequential turn signals.

Drilled holes through the extrusion for wire pass through to keep it all nice and tidy. There will be misc sub-system auxiliary junction box points on the roof panels to keep everything clean (and eventually out of view). Sometime in next week hopefully I'll have some time to find out if Chevrolet's PWM for their trailer system will allow my sequentials to work properly or if I have to hardwire into the tail lamps.

Link to the lights please.

I guess I don’t understand why you want to debadge the truck and then “badge” the license plate.

I dunno, just thought it was odd such an obvious prestige plate was available.

Kind of like I would be highly surprised if "RAPTOR" was available.... in any state (I know its not in Georgia).

But I did find out RRAPTOR was available when I had my Ranger Raptor on order. lol

Thank God I did not order it (the tag) in an attempt preempt everyone else in the state. haha

Oddly, in an attempt to be funny, NOTAZR2 (NOT A ZR2) is not available in my state. That is a head scratcher.

I mainly debadge my vehicles because 1.) Always come in chrone, 2.) Placed in spots that look odd to me, 3.) Never liked factory stickers/graphics.

I'm not necessarily against badging, I've just never found a factory placed set I like.

I also dislike the CHEVROLET stamped in the tail gate, they could have done something really cool like simply have ZR2 stamped (like the ranger does). I am hoping someone eventually releases a ABS applique (like the air designs one for the Ranger) that is just blank or something to cover it up.

More progress.

I also forgot I had bought 9 bed tie-downs for a project on my Ranger (they were actually made for Chevrolets)... so now I have 9+ tie downs in the bed in conjunction with the million other factory ones. LOL

Got all 8 pods installed. The overhang on the support bars is on purpose, I am working on a quick disconnect design for some rear cross connecting stability bars, as well as allow me to install a quick disconnect rear security panel to block off access to the bed.

I got both ZR2 stickers off and the rear chrome Colorado badging. Let me tell you what, even with a heat gun it leaves behind a bunch of foam-like-sticker adhesive. Since they are individual letters its more of a PITA. Took a couple of soaks of goo-gone to get it all off. Not looking forward to the two side badges.

Next up is to sand down and get some fresh paint on the mounting panels. I am actually going to install these upside down on the rack ceiling (need to get some longer carriage bolts) to basically create an entire ceiling of mountable space. I have some extruded aluminum slide out designs I am going to use on those.

I am hoping sometime in September to begin work on the free float monolithic 8 foot over the cab platform. Basically same simple design mechanics like the the wedge camper tops (ie; GoFast, etc etc), just minus the wedge camper. Once that is done my spot lights will be moved, rotated, and forward mounting on the front wall.

I also picked up some sand colored spray paint. I am going to test it with a coat of gloss enamel on something to see how it comes out. If it comes out like I want I am going to paint the gloss black side mirror caps.
nice lookin truck! do be careful with the trans (i know not saying much coming from the ranger lol) they are rather weak especially with all the power they have now so hopefully no issues in the future!

Well the ZR2 from my understanding has a completely different up-armored trans from the other trim levels and is different than the Silverado that uses the 2.7 as well.

I was thinking of the differential setups, open, limited, and locking.

I dunno, but if I bought cars based on online reviews and complaints I'd be walking or skateboarding everywhere. /shrug

Hopefully you won't be affected by this issue - sounds like a failed OTA update causes the truck to drain the battery by continuously re-trying it:

Gotta love software quality these days!
