Hahaha! Mine was a used 1963 Mercury Comet 4 door. My biggest tech issue was integrating a 8 track player into it
My first car was a used '74 Maverick 2 door. My brother had the Comet 2 door with a vinyl hard top

I know I’m late to the party here, and I’m still enjoying my ā€˜19, but these new Slate trucks with manual windows have me interested. Just for that alone. Maybe I’m crazy, but I’m with y’all in less tech.

Hope the REO doesn't go the way of the Elio car. They were taking orders, building prototypes etc. then BAM gone.
The Elio was a scam.

It was intriguing and had some neat ideas, but I'm not sure it was ever designed to do anything but fleece prospective buyers.

They took $27-$28 million in non-refundable deposits.

Every year they promised that production would start next year.

First it was going to be gas powered. Then it was going to be electric.

One of the neatest ideas was the Elio credit card.

Initially priced at $6800, you used the Elio credit card to buy gas and it doubled your bill to make the car payment.

Buy $20 of gas and get billed for $40. Since it was supposed to get 80+MPG you wouldn't be filling it often, and at only $6800 it would still pay off fairly quick.

I'm in "wait and see" mode. But I find the idea attractive. Keep the tech and give me reliable transportation.

Nice write up. Ironically, I traded in a Ram for my Ranger because I was tired of repairing it. The final straw was the tell tale sounds of the lifters wiping out the cam lobes (HEMI engine).

that’s a shame. Those hemi’s can go a looooong time without that. It’s amazing seeing how quickly people are embracing the hurricane engine. Sold like junk at first, now all the YouTube influencers are buying hurricane rams and everyone insists it’s the way to go. That no dipstick tho…

I went from a 2019 to 2025 Ranger. I had mixed feelings about the 12 inch display that controls 90% of functions including axle lockers. BUT after a few weeks I got used to it and appreciate the improve sync functions.
