Discovered this trick recently.
Where I live we get a lot of road tar and I get some tar remover and rub it off every spring before I wax. It's a PITA.
This year I accidentally stumbled on this technique. Spray on the tar remover, let it sit a bit, and wipe with a microfiber cloth. Don't have to go crazy with it and don't rub all the tar remover off but leave the residue there.
Then hit it with the detailing spray and the clay bar. Stuff comes off like a champ, you'll see it on the clay.
Worked especially well on my wife's minivan since it's maroon and the tar is impossible to see but it feels like you're rubbing a piece of sandpaper at first.

Have you had any issues with the tar remover dissolving the clay bar? I would imagine it would be dilutes enough after having the detail spray (as a lubricant I am assuming) applied it wouldn't. just wondering. :)

Another use for the tar remover is on the black rubber around the windows that can get ugly, apply tar remover to the corner of a microfiber and rub the crap out of the rubber. the tar remover will eat away/clean the top layer of nasty rubber and make it look pretty again. I did this on my subi and it turned out great - afterwards I applied a trim coating to protect it.

I didn't know the great almighty powers of 303 graphene when I did my subi, so I just used adams VRT on the trim lol.

unpopular opinion, 303 graphene, applied per label, is a pain in the ass and I didn't notice much difference compared to Gtechniq C2 . . .

I mean, I lost about 3 pounds of water weight sweating while applying 303, so that is a benefit, I guess. . . .

?‍♂

If it's that tough you're doing it wrong and applying to much. The first time I used it I put way to much on the roof and I thought my wrist was going to need a cast once I buffed it out. lol With this stuff less is better and I can do my whole truck in under an hour when doing it the right way.

Directions: Ensure paint is clean and dry before applying product. If desired, correct your car’s paint before applying, but this is not necessary for the product to fully bond to the paint. Spray onto a microfiber or foam applicator. Apply to the surface in a crisscross pattern to ensure complete coverage. After application, allow product to cure and haze white, then buff off with a clean dry microfiber towel. After buffing, no cure time is needed before being introduced to water. [/qutote]

Applying via crisscross pattern using a microfiber applicator block... working one panel at a time - ensuring full coverage, moving to the next panel. I could do ~2 panels before going back and buffing the 1st panel. there are also environmental factors I imagine. . .

full coverage was a couple spritzes on the applicator block per panel.

the C2 spray was spray a panel a few times, use clean microfiber and wipe around panel, flip towel over and wipe off. . . easily complete in 15-20 minutes for the truck.

matters not really, because this is a stop gap until I get the time to coat my truck . . . LOL

Don't mind Dave. If 303 or DeeZee Dampers aren't mentioned once per thread, he starts to go a little coocoo for cocoa puffs

No. I got a Mother's clay bar kit, normally I use Meguier's, it came with three bars and Meguier's comes with two but after doing my truck and the wife's minivan the first bar is shot. I knead them around every few minutes and get a clean side. 30 seconds in the microwave is helpful.

WD-40 on a microfibre cloth works great on tar
Tried it before and didn't think it worked well. Still looking for a decent tar remover where you don't have to add a bunch of elbow grease.
